ab2010 Posted May 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2014 I've noticed that a lot of Aussie cruises are being cancelled. What's the go? We got booted off the Diamond Princess sailing from Kobe to Sydney, due to the ship being chartered (still not too pleased about it), but in addition of charters, there's been news of cancellations across many different cruise lines. Anyone have thoughts on the matter?
Kiwi_cruiser Posted May 7, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2014 I think it is because the cruise lines have just released their new Itinerarys for 2015/2016 and a one of the ships have been swapped around and another had a change of plan. And in Carnival case a dry dock for the Carnival Spirit.
The_Big_M Posted May 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2014 The arrival of Golden Princess to Melbourne means that their plans for Dawn Princess to spend some time are no longer needed.

Lanwood Posted May 7, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2014 Is Golden Princess going to replace Dawn Princess or are they both going to operate out of Melbourne? We get'em both. Hooray!! Golden and Diamond will be here for the summer cruising seasons, while Dawn is expected to be in Australia all year round (along with her 2 sisters Sun and Sea). Fletch1 Posted May 7, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2014 Is Golden Princess going to replace Dawn Princess or are they both going to operate out of Melbourne? John Only the Golden is going to operate out of Melbourne. The Dawn is going to Sydney, (with the Diamond), the Sea will be out of Brisbane and the Sun will mix out of Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. The Golden is also having embarkations in Auckland on the round trips from Melbourne.

Good news for cruisers being able to sail out of most of the Aussie cities at one time or another.:D

The_Big_M Posted May 8, 2014 #12 Share Posted May 8, 2014 I am sure Adelaide and Darwin would like a piece of the action as well.:D There are a small number of cruises out of Adelaide on occasion, as well as the smaller Captain Cook ones regularly. Darwin has the cruises that do the Kimberley region as well but I was referring to the larger cruise lines.:D
Pushka Posted May 8, 2014 #14 Share Posted May 8, 2014 Hobart has one of the deepest ports in the world. Plus you are right in the heart of the city. However it has to step up to the market. For instance, having the Salamander market open on Sunday when ships are there. It has a lot of natural beauty.
