Balconies, on Voyager, Explorer and Adventure, are built into the hull of the ship, so the "dividers" are a structural part of the hull. On 2nd Generation Voyager class, Navigator and Mariner, the balconies are "hung" on the outside of the hull and the dividers can be opened, at the discretion of the Captain
