LuAnn Posted May 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2014 Did anyone else watch the coverage...live on Sunday AM??? Several times the camera "panned out" to the harbor and I saw "Quest" anchored there!!! We did the spring T/A and I know that she has stayed in the area...great to see here "resting" at sea!! Wouldn't that have been a great cruise to be on???When we disembarked in Nice in early April we did a tour to Monte Carlo and the guide "drove" us on the route...it was so exciting to see it Sunday...the "real deal"!!! Quite the thrill! And oh...those limos/chauffeurs parked and waiting outside the hotel and casino!!! AWESOME...never seen so many RRs, Ferraris, Jags, Bentleys etc. Such a high end town!!! Can't imagine how much a beverage even costs in those places!!! LuAnn
Phxazzcruisers Posted May 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2014 We did the Grand Prix cruise last year and even though we are not real race fans, we had an incredible time. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience

Actually, it doesn't sound like the prices are that high as far as food and drinks.....surprising. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g190409-i679-k5972359-2013_Monaco_Grand_Prix-Monte_Carlo.html
HudandPug Posted May 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) We did it last year, bucket list! We also went to Monaco last month and the coffee was surprisingly cheap. Two lovely frothy coffees with guylian chocolates for 5 euro. The food looked reasonable for the area too. If fact both Journey & Quest were moored in the Bay having spent 2 days together. We walked onto our Balcony on Journey at 07.00 in the morning & the first thing we saw was Quest with Monte Carlo has a backdrop, unforgetable. Yvonne We got off Quest in Nice on May 22, having been in Monte Carlo the day before (tendered off Villefranche due to high seas in Monte Carlo, and shuttled in.) As the practice sessions didn't start until the next day, we were able to walk alongside the pit lane and around part of the track, all for free! Saw Louis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. A far better day than ever anticipated. Back home, we watched the actual race and also spotted Azamara in the harbour. Warm fuzzy feeling! Re costs - we had a simple meal at a small cafe beneath one of the stands (weird experience) - pizza, burger, beers - and thought it slightly cheaper than the prices the next day in Nice. The service was also friendlier and a lot more efficient than in Nice, where several of us gave up trying to get a coffee in one cafe. Would love to do the actual Grand Prix cruise one year. It's a must do... I wish though that they arrived on the friday night, stayed over so you could use the tickets to watch qualifying too and all the other races. Tickets are not cheap for the good spots and the two days would really make the whole experience even better! Not sure how it will sound now with the new 1600 engines, it was deafening with earplugs in last year. Fantastic;)

LuAnn Posted June 11, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted June 11, 2014 and memories for those that were there!! ...I did think the other ship that was at anchor was the Journey...but I wasn't sure...so didn't want to say so!!! I was actually in Monte Carlo in 1968 (I was a mere infant!!! :) ) and drove the route then...right after that great movie "Grand Prix"...with James Garner et all...does anyone else remember that movie?? One of my favorites of all time!!!...but I have ALWAYS been into cars!!! Thanks so much for sharing your time there...an old line from the show "Fantasticks"..."The roar of the face-paint...the smell of the crowd"...does come to mind!!! :) LuAnn
