doryjeditt Posted May 29, 2014 Author #2 Share Posted May 29, 2014 We're sailing from Miami (day1) and will be in st. Maarten on day 3. I was told passengers could embark from st. Maarten, for example, if they cannot embark at Miami???

Shmoo here Posted May 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 29, 2014 Has anyone ever had a planned embarkation from a port of call from the cruise's itinerary if you could not embark on 1st day?? Generally speaking, cruises in Europe will allow later embarkation with pre-arrangement. Cruises in the Caribbean, may or may not allow later embarkation. Until recently, most cruise lines would allow it with pre-arrangement. But, now, there seem to be immigration issues with some itineraries and several of the cruise lines are no longer allowing it. It's best to contact the specific cruise line and find out their policy about your specific cruise.

Rare Keith1010 Posted May 29, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 29, 2014 You need to check with the cruise line. It comes down to their own rules plus any other rules related to the local authorities and the itinerary you are on. Keith

It doesn't matter if the cruise line is European or not. Its to do with the fact that its US immigration and US ports at either end if the journey. I think I read somewhere that its do with cost for the cruise line nowadays. They get charged if the come back to the US with extra people on board even if its legit paid for cruisers.
