upper west side Posted June 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2014 I'm preparing for my first cruise ever. I will have VIP status on NCL Jade. What exactly does that mean? Can I expect privileges or amenities that are not available to non-VIPs? Or is this basically an empty platitude?

cb at sea Posted June 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2014 Is your VIP status because of onland casino? I'm not sure how else you could get that, if you haven't cruised before! I that's the reason, you will get the royal treatment! Enjoy! Freebies, and lots of being catered to!
Sauer-kraut Posted June 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2014 NCL doesn't give VIP to just anyone, you might be entitled to Lunch and Dinner with the suite guests in Cagney's Restaurant. You might be entitled to priority boarding, chocolate covered strawberries, and priority debarkation. You might want to ask over on the Norwegian board what others have received. upper west side Posted June 4, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted June 4, 2014 Didn't mean to sound ungrateful, just didn't want to have outsized expectations. I think I may have received that status via a close friend of a NCL exec. I feel very fortunate, in fact.

I'm leaving in sept, and I could use a few "perks" I have about 3 more 7day cruises to get to a good status.
helpthejuggler Posted June 4, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 4, 2014 We had VIP status on NCL recently. Even though we remained in our normal room we were given access to Cagneys for Breakfast and Lunch, use of suite area in the theatre, assistance from the concierge, escorted off the ship, tickets and stickers for ship tours were delivered to us so no need to go the theatre. Choc strawberries, some sparkling wine, invites to evening receptions etc. A very nice perk
