Island Hopper58 Posted June 14, 2014 #276 Share Posted June 14, 2014 Does anyone remember the Future Cruise Certificate ? That was a much better deal for your money Loved the FCC, but it is not offered now, so this is the next best thing :) I've put in all my info to purchase, it doesn't say anything about the promo card. I read on CC it's 'automatic' -- it that correct? Do I get the promo amount in an email? It is automatic, if you do the e card you will have a longer shelf life for your % promo card The e gift card will come right away, and the Promo % e card will come hours or even days later I bought a few and so far only one %promo card has showed up. But I also bought that gift card earlier in the day from the others. Hope this helps
ss70chev Posted June 14, 2014 #277 Share Posted June 14, 2014 Thank you all! I had an old FCC and was able to use it thanks to the advice on this site. I also booked ES and was able to get the reduce casino rate thanks to the advice. Now, I have purchased $1000 in gift cards and got $100 free. I have a Carnival Mastercard and have $500.00 in shipboard credits. All in all in savings and shipboard credits it is worth $920.00. I don't cruise until January 2015. Keep it coming, I may just have a free cruise before it is over. :)
deborahjo Posted June 14, 2014 #278 Share Posted June 14, 2014 Last October we applied $800 to our Sign and Sail account in plastic Gift Cards we had purchased. When we checked our balance there they were. We were able to remove funds from our S&S account anytime we wanted for anything we wanted. No restrictions. Laurie S. Posted June 14, 2014 #279 Share Posted June 14, 2014 I couldn't resist, I just bought another $500 which also puts me over to get $200 in OBC from my credit card.
Bookbug53 Posted June 14, 2014 #280 Share Posted June 14, 2014 Good question. I just think the promotion let's carnival have a cash infusion with their expectation being that most people will use to pay off their cruise. I dou bt the majority of people have thousands lying around. Also if they charge the gift they may never see free money as they will be paying interest on the credit card which is usually more than 10 percent Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk Never pay interest. :D Card is paid in full each month. Beanie for us with points also that we accumulate until we can use them to buy our airfare to the next port. Flights to NOLA costs us $2.32 out of pocket this time for November. :p Add in instant savings with the 10% off on our remaining cruise fare balance that we paid off with the cards and I don't see any down side for us yet. Of course we may have lost out on a couple of dollars interest between now and August (final due). Now we are busy calculating how much to buy tomorrow to pay for Cheers and save. ;)
leenieweenie Posted June 14, 2014 #281 Share Posted June 14, 2014 I didn't see a downside to this. I ordered enough ecards to pay off my cruise. Free money (10%) is always welcome! What a deal.

We never charge more than what we can pay off when the statement arrives. Have never paid interest on a CC.
czst17 Posted June 15, 2014 #283 Share Posted June 15, 2014 My cruise is already paid. If I buy $200 can I apply some of it- once onboard- to other S&S accounts? My niece and nephew are sailing too so can I put $50 each on their accounts and then I would have $120 for my account? Makes me look like a pretty good aunt! hartskys Posted June 15, 2014 #284 Share Posted June 15, 2014 I bought $800 and will receive $80 free - woohoo. Our balance on our cruise is $805 - can I just pay the $880 and the balance will automatically go on our S&S account?

loohoo1 Posted June 15, 2014 #287 Share Posted June 15, 2014 Thanks for this information. Owed $3000 on our three cabins for our December cruise. Just ordered three $1000 cards and will use the "free" $300 to as OBC. Yeah!
jjswiech Posted June 15, 2014 #288 Share Posted June 15, 2014 We sail in about 70 days on the DREAM. We have completed our Online check in and currently our accounts are set up with a credit card. Will I still be able to apply my gift cards once I get on-board? Or should I go in and change my account to say CASH? I am pretty sure that we will have enough gift cards to cover all of our expenses for our trip but if we go over we will want the charges to go to our credit card. We won't be traveling with lots of cash. Does anyone have any experience with this?
luvmysox1 Posted June 15, 2014 #289 Share Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) JUst did this. It worked great. All paid and free money. Used our Fun Point Mastercard and got double points. Gave us enough for another 50 in bar cash. Edited June 15, 2014 by luvmysox1

TropicalAlbino Posted June 15, 2014 #291 Share Posted June 15, 2014 If we purchase $1000 worth of gift cards, use all of them to pay for our cruise that we have scheduled for 2016. Does anyone know what will happen if we need to change ( not refund) that cruise prior to the normal change cancel date? We are from Canada if that makes a difference. I am just a bit con earned they would not allow changes Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Barbee524 Posted June 15, 2014 #292 Share Posted June 15, 2014 This is a great deal. Paid off my October cruise and have some leftover to apply to my onboard account. I plan on purchasing another to use onboard. I've cruised enough so that I know what we usually spend onboard. Oh and no credit card interest is involved for me, used my debit card. That's why I have to wait to purchase another my debit card has a limit on what I can charge each day.
cathyoo Posted June 15, 2014 #293 Share Posted June 15, 2014 Hope someone here has answers for me. I went to the page following the link from the OP. I read about the 10% but did not see a promotion code. I ordered 5 $200 gift cards. During the process there was nothing about a 10% gift card. Did I do something wrong? thanks for any help you can give me.

wrennies Posted June 15, 2014 #296 Share Posted June 15, 2014 If you followed the link, you should have done it right. The promotional card will not come until tonight (around 5am). Your other cards should have come quickly (this is if you did ecards). It never says anything about receiving a promotional card as you go through the process. halterk Posted June 15, 2014 #297 Share Posted June 15, 2014 I just bought a 2nd e-gift card just now. Email arrived with my gift card #, and I went online to enter it, and it says Card balance:$0.00 Sorry, this gift card is empty Anyone have this problem before? Does it take a little while for the GC to get money on it? I figured once they sent the GC to my email, it would have the money on it! The first one I bought two days ago I had no problems with.
halterk Posted June 15, 2014 #298 Share Posted June 15, 2014 Just got off the phone with Carnival's GC department. They looked up the GC # and confirmed there was the correct amount of money on the card, and suggested I try checking again in an hour or two online to get the money applied to my cruise. N7786W Flyer Posted June 15, 2014 #299 Share Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) I think somewhere in the fine print it says it may take up to 24 hours for the cards to be activated. I know some here had to wait a few hours and others had theirs activated almost immediately. I would suspect it has something to do with the credit/debit card transaction actually completing at each customer's bank. Bottom line, I think you're fine. Check back in a few hours and see if the balance isn't there. Garnett Whoops...I guess my fingers didn't type fast enough....seems you found your answer already! :) Edited June 15, 2014 by N7786W Flyer
