Amsterdam Cruise Port Transfer to Airport and Anne Frank House

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there is a tour company or airport transfer company that will pick us up at our ship in Amsterdam and make a stop for an hour or so at the Anne Frank House so we can do our tour before taking us to the airport for a flight back to the US later that afternoon. Our ship arrives in Amsterdam at 7:00 am. We can't take a taxi as we will have our luggage with us that will need to stay in the tour van/vehicle while we are visiting the Anne Frank House.

Thanks!

Unless you pre booked Anne Frankhuis there will be no cabdriver or touroperator that will take you there and wait for you. Lines can be very long, (better said lines are always long! donot be surprised if you have to wait for more then 1 hour without reservations).

So a reservation for AF huis is even more important then finding a driver.

PS. Please also realise once inside AF house, you will need about 1 hour if you want to see also the various videos etc. with more information about the way they lived etc.

What I read was you can leave your luggage at the Grand Central Station in a locker. Not sure how big is their lockers and take a 20 minute walk to Ann Frank House. Did you purchase the tickets yet? The lines are very long and each tour has a special time assigned. If you miss the time, it is too bad. Cannot come in with any bags or knapsack because it is a small place. We will be there in August.

The Western Europe forum, which includes Amsterdam, may be the best place for this question.

Due to very long lines and the fact that the house itself is very small, pre-purchase of a ticket from the Anne Frank internet site is a must. But anyone who is planning a visit to the Anne Frank House must also understand that it also is a very emotional experience. We have found ourselves almost unable to leave, and having to spend some time in their cafe drinking tea while thinking about what these folks endured.

Are you on Celebrity? We got off the Constellation on June 2nd, and I think I recall two different late flight transfers being offered. One was for a canal boat ride, and one was for the Anne Frank House. If I can find it in any of my stuff I'll post back here.

You might also consider hiring a private car and driver. We used Marius Hovius (http://dagtoertaxi.nl/services.html) for a day tour of small villages outside of Amsterdam on the day we disembarked, and we were very happy with his service. If you go that route, you would definitely want to make sure you purchase your tickets in advance on the Anne Frank House website.

Thank you very much for the information on the private car and driver. Yes, we will be on Celebrity sailing next May on the Silhouette doing pretty much the same itinerary that Constellation is doing this year. I did see the two cruise ship transfers you mentioned and that is an option as well.

I hope you enjoyed your cruise!

I appreciate your help.
