They started looking and paging in the public area around 2:00 am. Paging in passenger cabins 4:00 till 4:30..paging in crew cabins at 5:30 and all crew up at 6:00 to help search. Found him about 7:30 on cabin on deck 1 after starting knocking on ALL cabin doors asking if he was there..Dennis

 

So they noticed him missing at 2am? Not much better...

Not for nothin, but if it was movie night, it might not have been before 1AM he would have been expected if he was at Club 02. So, 2AM is not exactly unreasonable....

 

As for stories and thinking you're getting facts from the Captain and crew regarding passengers... A cruise partner administered CPR to a guest in the Casino one evening, despite the fact that he was dead when he hit the floor....(she is a nurse) but the crew were telling passengers he spent the night in the infirmary and was taken to the hospital at the first port.

For the first time in my over 50 cruises I was awoken in my cabin by an announcement in my cabin in the middle of the night. Started at 4:05 am and lasted every 5 minutes until 4:35. They were searching for a 14 year old that had an argument with his Dad & stepmother. They starting making the announcements in the crew cabins at 5:30 and all crew had to get up at 6:00 and help with the search. My room steward knocked on my door with a picture of him about 7:00 as they went to every cabin searching for this 14 year old. They found him about 7:30 hiding in another friends cabin that he met on the cruise. His whole family was put off along with the people in whos cabin he was hiding. Everyone on the ship was awaken by this search so it was probably for the best they put him off...Dennis

 

Glad to hear they are booting troublemakers! :)

I was on the Pride in February and Carnival threw a woman off the ship after she repeatedly failed to respond to public appeals to contact the front desk.

 

Everyone was worried she went overboard, which happens more often each year than most cruisers realize. But most of them are voluntary.

What the mom barely hints at is that the search went on for about an hour before the announcements into the cabins.

 

Our story on the Paradise-

DD was out too late after Club02 and we couldn't find her. Supposed to be back 15 minutes after it ended. 2nd night of a 3night cruise.

 

Contacted security. They printed out her boarding pix and it was given to every security officer. They looked in all public areas for her. She was finally found on one of the small fan decks behind the buffet.

 

Let's just leave it at she never did that again. Never had a problem with a curfew before or since.

This alllll boils down to one thing, parenting. It was inconceivable for me or my siblings growing up not to listen to my parents as we KNEW without a doubt that life as we knew it would come to an end if we didn't. To heck with being thrown off in Jamaica I probably would have felt like jumping overboard if I had pulled anything like that because my parents were military strict and behaviour like this, well, you just didn't even entertain. My parents never once raised their voice to any of us kids (we are all over 50 now) because they didn't have to. What they said was law and once we learned the repercussions we didn't want to have no part in them. And they always stuck to their work 100% so there wasn't ever a doubt (hope) that they wouldn't follow through.

 

My parents started small. If your curfew was 12:00 and I came in at 12:10 (which I did ONCE) then you knew there was no way you were ever going to either do that again or be even later.

 

No matter what the issue the parent is at fault in this case.

Not necessarily disagreeing, but at what point does someone become responsible for their own actions? Or is any issue the fault of the parent?

I'm sorry but if she thought he was responsible enough to roam the ship without any supervision then he would be responsible for what he has done. At 14 y/o he should know right from wrong by now. If his name was being announced all over the ship for hours he was sure to hear it, right?

 

I'm sorry if my son who is also 14 y/o pulled anything like that he would once we got home be grounded for quite awhile and start working off whatever amount it took to get the family home doing chores at home. I would also guarantee he would be staying with relatives if the family was able to take another vacation together.

Traumatized, yes, but having PTSD? I don't buy it. Here's is Merriam-Webster's definition:

 

"A psychological reaction that occurs after experiencing a highly stressful event (as wartime combat, physical violence, or a natural disaster) outside the range of normal human experience and that is usually characterized by depression, anxiety, flashbacks, recurrent nightmares, and avoidance of reminders of the event."

 

Sorry, but no. I buy that she is upset, pissed off beyond belief, angry, and probably stressed, especially if finances were a real concern, but PTSD? Nope.

One fact that I do know they broadcast in my cabin every 5 minutes for 30 minutes stating at 4:05 am..Just as I dozed off they broadcast again. I was just about to get up and look for the knucklehead myself..Dennis

I asked the cruise to help me locate my son because he left our room upset and was gone for over 3 hours. I had seen a lot of underage drinking and smelled pot on the ship. I thought, "What if he got drunk or high with one of these new kids he meet and fell overboard?" Well, they started looking for him and then began doing ship calls for like 3 hours every 20 minutes. We finally found my son. They took my son and put him in a room with 10-15 security members of the ship and questioned him without me present. They finally let me and and continue to question him. They left and came back and told me that my son and me where to get off the ship and figure out how to get home from Jamaica.

 

 

 

I had a breakdown. Thinking my child was dead, them not letting me speak to my child, and finally them telling me I was going to be stranded in Jamaica. I will never take a Carnival Cruise again. I will tell everyone I know that if you travel Carnival and you think your child is missing, don't ask for help because you will get kicked off. I have PTSD from being left behind.

 

I think taking this kid on a cruise was a bad idea from the get go. Hanging out with kids that were drinking and smoking pot, and arguing with his mother. Getting the family and those involved off the ship was a good idea, they spelled trouble. PTSD - nope! Pissed yes.

 

P.S. I think this kid was a handful before they even stepped foot onto the ship.

And I have no clue what the real story is , neither do you. That was kind of he point.

 

Guess I'm just surprised at all the absolutes implied here. Funny how people are drawing all kinds of conclusions when I see very little fact.

 

But it be real clear for you, Dennis-I don't know these people nor do I have any real information. Do you?
