Just off Navigator if you have any questions

Recommended Posts

Did you use the Internet on the ship at all? Just wondering how the speed seemed to you.

Hi Bob - we just got off the NOS and we used the computer in the DL. It seemed fine to me. I was able to get on and off fairly fast. I did not even go through my one hour allotted to me. We did not bring the laptop this time.

Thank-you Linda, that's encouraging. Might be able to get by without buying any minutes next time.:)

To the OP, we will be going on this same itinerary 8/24 and are using EZ Cruise parking also. Did you drop your luggage off first, or park and pull it with you?

We are really looking forward to sailing Nav since her refurb!

Thanks for the info I just booked Navigator for February and am really excited :)

I'm glad your drink package worked great! I'm planning on it especially if the Casino is smoky I know I won't be spending any time in there!

I have a question about the specialty restaurants -

You said you got a discount do you mind sharing what it was?

Also did you dine in them for Lunch and Dinner or just dinner?

Finally do you recommend anything in particular from each restaurant???

I am pretty sure I am going to eat at Chops, Giovani's, and Sabor for Dinner and Johnny Rockets / Izumi for lunch :D so any advice would be appreciated!

Someone had asked about The Texas Tenors-they are not listed as being scheduled on the June 29 sailing of NOS.

From an email from RCI:

"The following entertainment is currently scheduled for the June 29, 2014 sailing of the Navigator of the Seas:

Rick Corso Comedian

Georgy and Katia Ice-Act Star Act

James Morris Schooner Bar Entertainer

PAPA T Pub Guitarist

Piano Legends Piano Showman

Motown Live Group

Scott Cavanaugh Juggler

Please note that the onboard entertainment is subject to change. For more specific information regarding times and locations, please consult the Cruise Compass once onboard."

How do you find out what the entertainment will be on your cruise? We will be on July 13-20 cruise out of Galveston.

We have used EZcruise 30+ times. We have a system - DH drops me off at the pier with the luggage and then he drives to EZ to park the car. He them walks back to the pier, we meet up and check in. If it is raining, he will take their shuttle back to the pier. On debarkation, we pull our luggage down the sidewalk to the Carnival pier and use the cross walk to cross Harbor Drive. I usually stand in front of the RR Museum with the luggage while DH walks to EZcruise to fetch the car. EZcruise is only about 2 block from the terminal.

It's not a big deal Michael, I was just curious about the perceived performance of the Internet on Navigator. Thanks.

Bob, we just got off Navigator yesterday. We thought the internet was fast. We used iPads and iPhones. We didn't use their computers. The 60 minutes package was $29.95 and the D+ coupon made it free.

Thanks Carolyn. Looking forward to checking it out for ourselves in a couple of months.:)

If you book a specialty restaurant for nights one and/or two you can get a 20% discount. If booked online before the cruise it will be posted as OBC. Also, if you book 3 or more specialty restaurants for the cruise you will get a 20% that will be deducted from your bill or OBC. The 3 or more restaurants MUST be booked together by day/night one to receive the discount. Sabor was fabulous, as was Giovanni's Table. The appetizers at Chops were excellent, but the baked potato was salted. There are a couple new desserts and they have improved on their version of Chocolate Mud Pie. We also really liked Izumi. We thought it was even better than Allure, Oasis or Serenade. We used our BOGO D+ coupon and booked 4 other nights:D

Thanks for this tip, I like to get as much done as possible prior to the cruise so I will go ahead and book our specialty restaurants today!

When we booked, if you made reservations online for 3 of the specialty restaurants then you got a 20% discount off the cover price. We paid full price, then they credited it at the end of our cruise. We had to talk to guest services and confirm the credit. We also had to remind a couple of the restaurants we had already paid online as they tried to charge us again when we were there.

Giovanni's was good, but I wouldn't need to go back. I didn't feel well that night and they packaged all my food up to go and sent it with DH when I couldn't return to our table and offered us 20% off if we wanted to come back. Great service. I had a shrimp dish that was still good at midnight and DH a steak he liked. The cannoli for dessert was also good. I don't remember a lot about their menu.

Chops was really good. We ate there twice. Everything was good. We had filets, potatoes, asparagus, onion soup, crab/shrimp cake, salads, shrimp cocktail. The pretzel bread and butter was good. I had the chocolate soft cake both nights with coconut ice cream. We also had the cookies. It was so good we went back a second time. They offered us 20% off our bill for doing that. The staff was great. The second time we went and had the same waiter and he remembered and brought us our same drinks. His name was Milan, from Serbia and he was the best.

We also did Sabor twice and were offered 20% off our second visit. You must get the chicken/jalapenos/bacon appetizer. We got it both times. The tortillas were good. The tacos, table side guacamole, flautas. Then their dessert plate is amazing. They bring you about 10 small desserts and every one is good. DH had the table side margarita and liked it. I had the red sangria with Patron.

We did Johnny Rockets and first night and liked it. We had been before. Its $6/pp and all you can eat. They have several burgers to choose from and bring you fries and onion rings. Staff was great.

Its definitely something we will consider in our budget going forward.

Glad to hear we can book onboard, as we have OBC to use.

Looking forward to eating at Sabor again:D

Thanks to Bob for the email address to request the entertainment lineup.

Here's what I got for the July 27th sailing:

The following entertainment is currently scheduled for the July 27, 2014 sailing of the Navigator of the Seas:

Paul Boland Impressionist

Katia and Slava Ice Act – Star Act

Tribute to the Temptations Tribute Act

Tom McTigue Comedian

Matt Henry Juggler

PAPAT Pub Guitarist

Phil Anderson Schooner Bar Entertainer

Kinda disappointed - no Texas Tenors, no Bubba Feathers, and REALLY not into the Temptations. On the other hand, I've heard Phil Anderson and Tom McTigue are good. Haven't heard much about Paul Boland or Matt Henry. and I'm guessing PAPAT is supposed to be "Papa T"?

We enjoyed Paul Boland, he has a good show if you like Sinatra type music.

  • 6 months later...
Do you remember if the ship changed time to island time?

Just off from last week and we stayed on ship time (Galveston time).

Which may or may not have been island time, never checked.
