How old to use the casino ?

We are bringing a small group of family for a wedding on the Crown next April. One of the guest will still be 20 when we sail. His wife is 21. Will he be able to go in to the casino? What is the legal age on a ship to gamble ? Also is the drinking age 21 on a ship ? Poor guy, he will be 21 2 weeks after we get back.:rolleyes:

Sorry to say both the drinking age and the age for use of the casino is 21. He's out of luck but his wife is ok :)

Keep in mind that if he should decide to toss a few coins in a slot and hits, the casino will not pay him off.

This is from the casino FAQs:

 

"Persons under the age of 21 are not permitted to gamble or linger on the casino floor. Proof of age may be required."

 

So it looks like no, he's not allowed to hang around while she plays, although it might be worth asking the casino host :)

Or just watch her until if challenged.

 

And then just have the wife show her cruise card which will indicate she is an adult. They might assume he is at least as old as she is.

My 18yo nephew went with me to the casino on a trip and was watching me play some slots. I hit a rather lengthy payout with subsequent dinging and lights flashing which drew the attention of one of the casino hosts (not a huge payout as I was playing a nickle slot, but a good amount of nickles were being counted) and he was sizing up myself and my nephew. Shortly thereafter another host in a suit came up to my nephew and asked him to produce his cruise card which was scanned and when it was determined he was only 18 they asked him to leave, which we both did after I cashed out.

 

There is signage to the affect that only 21 and older are welcome but they were hidden by the cashier cages, not by the main entrance where we walked in.

 

One caveat to the gambling age is people under 21 can play BINGO if the cards are purchased by someone 21 or older, however if they win they need someone 21 or older to claim. This was at least the policy on the CB a few months ago.

There are so many things to do on a cruise ship that I bet he won't even miss being able to go into the casino. The money he saves he can use in a bunch of other ways.

Many of the drinks offered at the bars on board can be made sans booze "virgin" style.

Please be absolutely certain he doesn't put money into a machine. There was a kid a few years back in Tahoe who put money into a dollar slot and hit the huge jackpot. His parents tried to claim the money but the video clearly showed the kid putting the money into the machine and the casino didn't pay off. I was a really gigantic jackpot. That kind of thing would be a real bummer...

To go to the nightclub (for example: Skywalkers) after 10 PM must be at least 18.

Thanks Caribill that is good news. I know going dancing will have more appeal than the casino anyway. I appreciate all the answers
