Eng23 Posted July 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) I concur with killtheump. They are considered a fire hazard by the cruise line and will be confiscated. If found in your checked luggage you would be required to go to the "naughty room" to claim your bag after removal of the travel iron. Guest maddycat Posted July 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2014 You can send wrinkled items to the ship's laundry to be pressed. They do a good job and the prices are reasonable.
RCCL Cruise Couple Posted July 14, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 14, 2014 I'm thinking you can't, but told my mom I would ask! Thanks! We saw a woman having her travel iron confiscated on our cruise Dec. 2014. Also, a tip we use to take wrinkles out of our clothes is to take a spritz water bottle and mist them. Another tip is to hang them in the bathroom and let the steam from a hot shower help you out. And as others stated, the laundry onboard is very good, reasonably priced and provides fast turn-around service.
The Sunset Glow Posted July 14, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 14, 2014 There are three option I use for wrinkles and which one I choose depends on the article of clothing: 1) Use Downy Wrinkle Release - it works great. 2) Hang the item on a hanger in the shower/bathroom with the shower running on hot for a few minutes. 3) Send to the ships laundry for pressing - it's not very expensive. No iron needed:D

Usually the first day when we unpack, hang about 10 shirts up there for 5 minutes, then into the closet. If not, like others have said...the pressing service is reasonable....I have used it before. Ashland Posted July 14, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Many years ago RCI ships even sold them in their onboard shop. We still have ours...But no longer are you able to bring them onboard...if you do so you'll be eligible for an excursion to the "naughty room" ;)

papaflamingo Posted July 14, 2014 #13 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Even though it says no Steamers, we bring a plastic one with no problem (so far). I think the only steamers that get confiscated are the metal ones or ones that look like an iron. We pack our steamer in our luggage and send it up. If it does get confiscated, you simply go down and get your luggage, then on the last day you can go get it back. A pain, may not be worth the time. novalab Posted July 14, 2014 #14 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Even if they think you have a travel iron in your luggage you will need to go to the Naughty Room! This happened to me on our recent Allure cruise. When I didn't receive my main suitcase, I went down to Customer Service to report it missing (never received a notice that it was being held & it was already past 7 PM on our departing day, I was stressed). CS has a list of confiscated bags & I was escorted to the Naughty Room. The first thing they asked me was "Do you have a travel iron in your suitcase?" I have cruised enough to know better. They had me open my bag & we went through the 'area' of suspicion that showed up on the scanner. No Iron but I did have a small dial type suitcase weight scale. We all figured out that little scale was the questionable (but allowable) item & they apologized & I was able to take my bag. So, save yourself the stress & wear wrinkle like the rest of us:D Have a great cruise!
