Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted July 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2014 The port is in the City, You could walk a few blocks and take a bus down town, Go on line and pull up a map of NYC it will show the cruise terminal it is about 49st
138east Posted July 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2014 The port is in the City' date=' You could walk a few blocks and take a bus down town, Go on line and pull up a map of NYC it will show the cruise terminal it is about 49st[/quote'] This is not correct. It looks like the OP's cruise is scheduled to dock in Red Hook, Brooklyn, so expert advice from the Brooklyn sailers is required.
trish1c Posted July 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Public transportation is usually your best bet to travel in NYC. As an island, it's very congested. If you aren't used to driving in a big city you will be very frustrated. Parking is also a night mare. If you stay in Manhattan before or after your cruise it will be relatively easy to see what you like & get around. You can spring for a cab when you have all your luggage unless you are used to public transportation where you are.
smeyer418 Posted July 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Princess generally docks in Brooklyn but not always. here is the schedule for both. http://www.nycruise.com/schedule/ If Brooklyn personally I would call Arecibo(7187836465) about $20-5 per car and have them take you into Manhattan by the 9-11 memorial which you no longer need reservations for. http://www.911memorial.org/ you can get reservations for the Statue of Liberty which you can walk to easily from the 911 memorial. http://www.nps.gov/STLI/planyourvisit/index.htm the top of the Rock is in Rockefeller Center 50th street between 5th and 6th Ave... you best can get around in Manhattan by subway. http://www.mta.info back to Brooklyn either take a cab(expensive) or take the subway back to brooklyn to the Carroll Street subway stop on the F train and then call Arecibo to pick you pack up again and take you to the ship.. If the ship leaves from Manhattan is much easier.

Nitemare Posted July 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 28, 2014 http://www.911memorial.org/ you can get reservations for the Statue of Liberty which you can walk to easily from the 911 memorial. http://www.nps.gov/STLI/planyourvisit/index.htm I've only heard of one guy who supposedly could do that! ;)
