Barcelona metro sightseeing -

During your ride on the Barcelona metro, are verbal announcements made regarding specific sights (i.e. "Next stop: sagrada familia") or does it just announce street names?

It is VERY easy to get around Barcelona by metro.

This web site is a great resource for that (and Barcelona in general). Most often getting a T10 card is the best deal. You can read about that on this web site as well.

Have a great trip!

Well, today was our first day in Barcelona. My one fatal flaw was not contacting the credit card company and getting a chip/pin prior to the trip. We were unable to get a T10 because of it and therefore walked all over the city today. My husband wears a fitbit and clocked us at twelve miles by end of day. Not the smartest way to start our vacation in Europe!!

Wow, what a shame! I would have thought there'd be a kiosk somewhere where you could get tickets for cash, but not too surprising I guess.

Canada went chip and pin some years ago, but I remember the beginnings of the rumbling about them back in 2006--you could still get away with swiping. But no more, I guess.

It is not hard to do. Suggest having a metro map prior to going on METRO.

Last year in Paris I used the Paris Metro app for my iphone and ipad. It made getting around Paris a breeze. I just checked and there is a similar iphone and ipad app for the Barcelona Metro. I will be downloading that for our trip next month. And the best thing is it is a free app.
