Devon Doll Posted August 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2014 Could anyone advise where the ships shuttle drops you off from Livorno docks. Is it just outside the dock gates or does it take you to Pizza Grande from where you can get a bus to the train station. We intend to go to Lucca rather than Florence. Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance Its near Piazza Grande so yes, close to the buses to the station. If you can gather a couple more you could get a taxi to the station from the ship for €20-25 making it a much quicker trip. Weve been to Lucca and its a nice half day trip. If you have not been to Pisa the train to Lucca passes through so you could stop off. Lucca is a nice place for lunch.

clivep Posted August 2, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2014 You can get bus tickets from a kiosk near the shuttle drop off point. Don't forget to validate them when boarding the #1 bus to the station. I don't think there are any direct trains from Livorno to Lucca and a change in train & platform is needed at the main station in Pisa. The main station in Pisa is at the other end of town to the leaning tower. If you want to stop off to see the tower on the way back from Lucca then there is another station on the Lucca-Pisa line that some of the trains from Lucca stop at. KirkNC Posted August 3, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) We always go the taxi route. The shuttle drops off 50 or so people who all scramble to get tickets and than all try to pile on the bus to the station. Too crazy for me.
