Do Not Choose This Cruise Line

Your hard earned money will be better spent on Anything But MSC and this is my opinion but if you are a smart American and want your money spent for a great experience that includes great service, fun activities that have crew members actually show up on time and know what they are doing, enjoy comedy, bartenders that actually know what is in the drink you ask for

you will not find it on MSC. Choosing a cruise really is a hard decision really think long and hard before you choose MSC, they get upset about the bad reviews but they do nothing to fix things that couldmake them a better line, they use excuses of the different cultures that is so wrong just listen to what people are wanting to change and do it.

If you didn't like it back in 2010 why did you "waste your money" again?

Sail American Pepc2. MSC is not for you, or those wanting her to adapt to the "American" way.

You went in 2010 and complained like crazy about everything , so now you go back in 2014 and you complain again. When we go somewhere and dislike it as much as you did the first time we will not go back!!!!

CruiseGal,

I decided to give them another chance because I spoke to the MSC travel agent and they assured me that was why they brought over the Divina it was more American Friendly and that they had listened to the concerns well it fell on deaf ears because things are the same and knowing this I won't choose it again.

I have only been on two cruises (I am a late bloomer to the joys of cruising). The first cruise was in the US on Princess and I loved, loved, love it. The second cruise was here in Australia with P&O and it sucked. I would never ever sail with them again. In the US you have so many choices of cruises and cruise lines so I too am a little bemused as to why you would sail with a company that you disliked so much......even if a TA said they had improved. I would rather trust my judgement than that of a travel agent.

Anyhow I look forward to your next cruise review of MSC in a few years :)

I was on the same cruise and will say the same as the OP. This was the worst cruise i have ever been on. This company has no idea what customer service is all about. they should stay in europe, where i am assuming the expectations are lower. beautiful ship, horrible staff......save your money

LOL, im not the same person nor am i a spoiled brat. i work hard for my money and gave this cruise a try, regardless of some of the negative reviews i have read. the price was better than all those mass market cruises and i certainly got what i paid for. As far as my first post, this is my first day. i usually dont have time for these forums but i feel the need to tell others what to expect on this cruise and what not too. im happy for you guys that went on this ship and found it acceptable, your low standards or lack of cruising on mass market ships has made that possible....

Others, like the lady sitting beside me fell asleep. Who was right? We all were.

I had to laugh at this :D Even if the show it's not of your liking the music is certainly loud! Kudos to that lady for being able to sleep in such a hostile environment! ^_^

I've been following the boards for months on here since booking our MSC cruise...and I've found that most of the positive posts are from YC cruisers.....but here is the thing...........I am going on a cruise....which means I'm not working, it means someone else is making my bed....well after I tidy it up because I'm OCD that way, and someone else is serving me meals and cooking them............so I don't care if the shows suck, and I don't care if someone doesn't smile at me..............maybe they just had a bad experience that I don't know about, and maybe my dinner lasts 2 hours...........mine in the past usually do....great dinner table mates and good wine....equal a good time........maybe I won't win at the casino....but so long as I played for awhile...it's good dollar value for fun......so.....pretty much unless the ship sinks and I don't make it off, I expect this to be a great adventure.......:D

We are traveling with our cousins and 4 year old nephew to the eastern Caribbean Aussie. We've all sailed on Divina back in May, minus our nephew and had a great time together, so we thought it would be fun to do it again but bring our nephew who is obsessed with cruise ships!!! He watches MSC and Disney cruise line youtube videos all day my cousin says,,drives her nuts!! I booked them a nice balcony stateroom,,12006 which is directly under our stateroom. Couldn't believe it when my pvc called one day and offered them a Yacht Club upgrade for $900.00. They would have been able to sail in a YC1 for half of the published price, but they were content staying put.:(

You and your friends are going to have a great time together,,you're a pro with a great attitude!!

Could you be more specific and outline the circumstances of the incidents that so disappointed you? I am sailing on a sister ship next month.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion and I would never begrudge anyone for saying what they think. That being said, the MSC Divina has become my favorite ship to sail. Three times so far and two more this year. Enough said.... :p

Ours to Brett!! Getting ready for our second sailing aboard Divina in less than two weeks now!:D

We are on the same cruise as Mike and we are so looking forward to it. We have been on 13 other cruises, all American 'type' cruise ships and to be honest, after a while they seem to be about the same and a bit boring if you know what I mean. Now don't get me wrong, even a bad cruise is a good cruise, as we simply love cruising. But the Divina seems to offer something that I have not had in several years of cruising, something a bit different. Whether or not we like it, we shall know in about 3 weeks, after we return. We are simple folks who just want to get on a ship. We are not Yacht Club/Suites/Gold card or whatever people. We book inside cabins and we love it. MSC and the Divina offered us a fantastic deal on a 7 day cruise and this is the most anticipated cruise we have taken in years. Different foods, different shows, different people, and a completely different attitude by the cruise line.

Again, we will know a lot more in about 3 weeks.

Cheers

Len

I am of the opinion that any review says at least as much about the reviewer than it does about the thing they are reviewing.

I have been introduced to drinks on MSC ships that I have never heard of before by bartenders of the nation from which the drink originates. If I were parochial and just asked for what I normally drank in my back yard, then I would not expect everyone to know what I was talking about.

I find MSC service strikes exactly the right balance of formality, correctness, politeness and friendliness. I find American-style service invasive, hard-sell and fake-friendly. Staff on U.S. lines appear to have been trained in sales tactics but not in discreet, formal service.

There is a grey piece of card that we can all see. Some say it is too light, some say it is too dark and some say it is blue. I can see it! Don't tell me what to think. MSC is the most enjoyable cruise line for me I have so far found. If it is not for you, don't do it! A cruise is far better without professional complainers or those unfit to leave their own backyard.

Hi Mike

We notice you are booked for the transatlantic from Genoa to Miami.

We are Peter and Lynne from the UK and we have been trying to book Yacht Club since early June and are still waiting for availability to UK agents. We noticed it has been available in the US but we are unable to use these agents as we are not American residents.

We transatlantic each fall as we visit Florida each November usually staying in South Venice.

We sailed on Divina in Yacht Club on her maiden voyage to Miami last November and this year we are on Celebrity Eclipse crossing from Southampton to Miami.

We notice you live in Naples, we previously rented in Marco Island as we prefer the Gulf Coast.

When did you book your transatlantic?

Peter and Lynne

Peter,,I like Marco Island a bit more than Naples. Nightlife in Naples is non-existent unless you like expensive restaurants with no outdoor music, we have the billionaires in Port Royal to thank for that!! But,,it is quiet and we do have some very nice beaches. As regards to our repo sailing,,I booked this sailing on Friday after my girlfriend decided she was getting bored of the Caribbean and wanted to step out of our comfort zone and try something different. I would have thought this itinerary would have been released in the UK before the U.S. because there weren't many Yacht Club cabins available.

OK I have thought about it and I am still going on my cruise despite your best efforts to dissuade me otherwise. Does that make me a dumb European?

On a more serious note I would love to know what turned you off MSC. I find it hard to believe every single minute of every single day was a bad experience.
