Are the Lobster Tails the Size of Shrimp Now?

On Pride my lobster was tiny and terrible.

Tasted like it was cooked in bulk, then put on plates and microwaved.

You are only getting the tail of possibly a 1 pound lobster.

Cooked in bulk? Most likely. Microwaved? Possibly

Very seldom have we gotten great lobster tail on a ship. We stick with the home grown variety! :p

That tail is small but that first picture is angled to make the shrimp appear much larger. ;) Second one is more representative.

After reading a thread on here a few years ago about being able to order two of whatever you wanted in the MDR, we now order two lobster tails. We do it when we first place our order with the waiter knowing one is not enough due to the size. If I just want the one, I often will order something else that will fill me up, like the steak to make it a surf-n-turf with baked potato and veggies.

They're not as small as shrimp, but they are pretty small. The photo in question is forcing your perspective, with the shrimp in focus in the foreground and the lobster behind it.

Cruise lobster is never great, as it's generally warm water Caribbean lobster instead of the much tastier Maine lobster.

if you're concerned about the small size just order multiples. I usually do a lobster tail and a slice of rare prime rib on that night.

Are you really limited to ordering only two initially? I was going to start with three. Will I get strange looks or a no from our server? :p

You can order as many as you want, and chances are your server will serve with a smile. Don't sweat it!

At the end of the day the size does not matter:rolleyes: ...just order 2 more of them...... or 3 if you want more that's the nice thing about cruising ...you order and eat whatever you feel like you need to be rolled out of there....:D

They SAY they are Maine lobsters. I am a New Englander, and there is no way...they are definitely warm water version.

Sometimes they are! I have had the Caribbean Spiny crap...um..I mean lobster but I have also had the Maine lobster tails. :)

Last Carnival cruise, we both order 2 lobsters each. Each one came with 3 shrimps & they were wonderful.

We're late seating, so when our waiter asked us how were the lobsters, we said great. So he said they had more avail & asked we would like more, we said yes, he brought out 2 more plates for each of us!

We tipped him well the next night...

I agree. I didn't expect a 5 star huge lobster tail, but I did expect it to be much better quality(taste)
