Boarding Jewel is SJ Question

We are thinking of getting to the pier around 1:00 PM to board. Is that a good time or is it super busy then??

Probably noon to 1pm is the busiest time. After 2pm should be less crowded.

Because JOS sails out so late..you should have no concern as boarding is very spread out by those already in San Juan and those arriving on early afternoon flights day of cruise...unlike most ships that sail around 5-6:00pm when the earlier boarding times are busy.

Any idea why JOS doesn't leave until 8:30?

Not positive, but I'm guessing it's for a couple of reasons...

1. Most people have to fly to port...and from various parts of the country so it takes longer for everyone to arrive...

2. The islands that ships sailing from SJ visit are not that far away...thus less time is needed to reach the 1st port...

Ships from SJ used to leave much later than 8:30...some as late as 10pm
