Tony & Trevor Posted August 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Is it possible to order a packed lunch for port tour days where no lunch is included? Thank you, Kind regards, T

capnpugwash Posted August 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2014 How about buying lunch ashore and stop being a cheapskate? :)
cruiseluvva Posted August 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) Taking sandwiches or similar runs the risk of food - and therefore your health - seriously being compromised in any heat, plus many countries won't allow food to be brought ashore. Much better buy something ashore or wait until you return. Edited August 25, 2014 by cruiseluvva

Things that you might assume are legal could turn out not to be. It's easier to simply not carry anything ashore. If you don't want to take the time for a full restaurant-style meal ashore, eat a hearty breakfast before setting out. Then you can skip lunch or stop for a coffee and a snack somewhere and be on your way again quickly. We often make our snack stop at a pub so we can try a local brew and have a chance to talk to local people instead of other tourists. Dcoy Posted August 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Yes, many countries don't allow food to be brought onshore. Some ports even have food sniffing dogs. Just buy something in port. It's good to try different foods anyway. Have a great trip. Don
