cruisecritiquer Posted September 2, 2014 #26 Share Posted September 2, 2014 AARP rate is cheaper so if you have that... And you can get an associate AARP membership even if you are under 50 for $16.00.
mjkacmom Posted September 2, 2014 #27 Share Posted September 2, 2014 We have done this more than 5 times. It's always cheaper than a shore ex and we always have a longer stay at the Atlantis! No bus ride. No waiting. Easy to do by taking a cab to the hotel. Taxi was not expensive- not sure- maybe $15? Quick check in (never actually got a room) Quick walk to the Atlantis from the Comfort inn. You actually can walk through the hotel and go through the back door exit and you see the Atlantis entry. Free wifi in the hotel lobby at comfort inn so that is very nice if you want to check your email etc. The only downside at all is that you need to do careful math on the cost of the comfort inn for the number if people you are booking. Even if you don't use the room you are charged all kinds of crazy fees- like cleaning fee, electric fee etc... It's still always ended up a bargain and no hassle- for 4 people- but not a deal if my daughter doesn't have a friend and we are arriving late in Nassau- like 1 pm. In those instances we decide to do something else- not Atlantis- in Nassau. Just want to note it's not always cheaper. I did a dummy booking for CS on our last cruise, and NCL's excursion was cheaper (family of 7, 5 minors).
cruisecritiquer Posted September 2, 2014 #28 Share Posted September 2, 2014 Okay, now I have a question. With my AARP discount, the amount is: ** Estimated Taxes and/or other charges Estimated Total: $282.60 $98.42 $381.02 The total through NCL is $451.00. Is transportation to Atlantis SO much easier that it justifies booking through Comfort Suites to save $69.98 or about $54.98 after transportation? brookie848 Posted September 2, 2014 #29 Share Posted September 2, 2014 When we were in Nassau in January, we took a cab to the Atlantis -- $4/person one-way. No issues at all. We didn't hurry off the ship and we still saw people lining up for their bus. After we had been at Atlantis for a while, we saw people walking around from the ships following a guide. We did not do the water park -- we just wanted to check out the casino -- so I can't comment on that aspect of things. But transportation to Atlantis was simple and I'm sure it is to Comfort Suites as well. You might want to check on the Bahamas port board. When I was planning our cruise it was very active and had some helpful locals that gave real information.
MrsRissB Posted September 2, 2014 #30 Share Posted September 2, 2014 I've been looking into this same option for our Getaway cruise in two weeks. I think we are going with CS as I can get a pre-pay rate of $363 vs NCL excursions of $149 and $129 pp. My family of 4 that's well over $600, which is huge savings for me. Candleonwater Posted September 7, 2014 #31 Share Posted September 7, 2014 I'm looking at doing this, as the ships excursions drive me nuts. Hate all the standing around. We are going on a Thanksgiving cruise, and arrive at 1:30. I understand the water park closes relatively early, but booking a room for 4 at CS will run me about $300, and the ships excursion would be $660... well worth it. The water park is one of those things on my list of things to do. Is there really enough time to get there and ride the slides? Then what? Since we don't leave until midnight, I'd like to keep busy until its time to head back to the ship... and not in the casino either!

For 2 people, it's $460, once you add taxes and fees. If you have more people, add about $55 for each. You won't get there until after 2, it will be packed, lines huge, and the pools and slides close at 5. Plus the cost of a taxi there and back. Candleonwater Posted September 8, 2014 #33 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Not sure where you got your numbers, but not only did I did price it out for my dates - 4 people, including the fees and such is just over $300, but I booked it at that price. I understand that water park closes early at that time of year, but what about the pools? Nassau isn't one of my favorite stops, I'm usually back on the ship before dinner. This time I want to stay at Atlantis and explore.
