In the banner ad at the top of this forum on my screen it says that Vegas has a new leader in modern luxury.

Curious if everyone has the same ad in that banner?

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

If I understand it correctly, in many or most cases, the ads that appear on web pages that we visit are targeted based on our browsing history, the so-called tracking that google and others engage in. Nearly any ad can appear on nearly any web page; it depends on where you have been browsing previously. The web page owners get a little something out of the deal from the advertisers, typically based on the number of clicks they get from that webpage. That's how they make money for going to the trouble to create the web page that we all use "for free." Like "free" TV.

Exactly. My "banner" ranges from my selected airline to sites that I frequently use for shopping.

It appears RCCL and MGM have somehow joined forces as MGM now offers Royal Carribean rewards on the FB game MyVegasSlots.

I play that game (mostly for the comps when I go to Vegas) and I checked out the rewards: they aren't bad at all. You can use your slots game points to purchase OBC, discounts on cruises, companion fares, and drinks packages.

Since I play fairly regularly I rack up the "loyalty" points quickly and if I were going to cruise RC I would max them out and get the OBC and/or the drinks package. Though as a solo traveler the companion fare might be a better deal.

I see it! It is an ad for Aria Resort and Casino. I have not searched for anything in Las Vegas lately. But I do know about the cross over between the MGM hotels and RCL. Some exchanging of privileges goes on, as I understand it. I don't know if Aria is a MGM hotel.

Aria is an MGM property. One of their nicest ones. Has an award winning pastry chef. I think MGM owns half of Vegas properties (the major players) right now.

Yes....and it seems like Caesars owns the other half.

I think they are associated with Norwegian Cruiselines, if I am not mistaking.

Yes, NCL is associated with Caesars. They give discounts on NCL, plus NCL has their Casino At Sea, which gives really sweet deals to those that gamble on their ships. Edited by NLH Arizona

Supposedly I have that built in with the Safari in the settings.. It should block pop up and ads but it doesn't.

You must have a special program or app.

On kind of the same subject I recently bought a new land line phone that has call blocker. You add the number to a blocked list and the phone doesn't ring when that number calls. If you scroll thru "missed" calls it will show if a blocked number has called with the time and date. We are no longer annoyed by those computer generated calls that never answer. The phone does its job.

Happy cruising. 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

AdBlock is an extension that you can add to your browser of choice.

There is also another competing product called AdBlock Plus.

They are both free and do essentially the same thing.

Both install with Firefox easily, with IE 11 they are a bit harder to install but do work. I have Firefox using Adblock (plus), Ghostery, Heartbleed notifier, NoScript (does not allow scripts to run without you agreeing), Maskme, WOT (web of trust) and several others. Some sites won't run correctly so I have IE 10 with minimal adjustments for those sites. I have to use IE to actually complete a booking on Celebrity as it will not finish with Firefox and all the settings I have.

Great info Boogs!
