Jolly Mon Sings Posted September 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2014 I know you can bring a 12 pack a soda in a carry on when you first embark. Does anyone know if you bring a 12 pack of soda in carry on aboard when visiting ports?

AidenandCasensMommy Posted September 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2014 I was told yes when I asked while in port at Nassau.
cruiseelady Posted September 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2014 I had absolutely no idea that you are allowed to do that. That is great news, I am going to get a few cans in Nassau if its allowed.
KenMo Posted September 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2014 I've brought more soda on in St. Thomas...no problem.
MMastell Posted September 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Yes you can. Just make sure it is unopened. You can also bring back 1 and 2 litre bottles. Take care, Mike
Jolly Mon Sings Posted September 21, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Thanks to all.......this will make it easier to first embark as I won't have to lug on soda along with everything else. We will be stopping in many US ports and Canada and I should have little problem purchasing soda to carry back on board.

Purvis1231 Posted September 22, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) Carnival FAQ states you can bring drinks on embarkation day. Liquor and Beverage Policy Bringing Alcohol On Board - Embarkation Day: Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board. However, at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring on board one 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne, per person, only in their carry-on luggage. A $15 corkage fee per 750 ml bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the main dining room or steakhouse. (A corkage fee is a charge exacted at a restaurant for every bottle of liquor served that was not bought on the premises) On embarkation day, each guest may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages on board and only in their carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 bottles and/or cans, 20 ounces each or less. Edited September 22, 2014 by Purvis1231 typo
Sarah@Sea Posted September 22, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Yes, I took a partial 12-pack on when I boarded in Port Everglades, then purchased a new 12-pack in Key West our first port.
L&J Posted September 22, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Is there a store close to port in Nassau that sells 12 packs of pop?
Boozebabe Posted September 22, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 22, 2014 I brought back 4 or 5 cans of Coke in St Thomas. No problems.
RWolver672 Posted September 22, 2014 #13 Share Posted September 22, 2014 It can be done but don't expect it to taste exactly like what you are use to. It's because the water they use tastes differently than your local water. It's still better than drinking Coke if you're a Pepsi drinker though. aarep Posted September 22, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 22, 2014 We were on the Sept. 6 sailing of the Freedom. I brought 6 packs of Bud Light on in my wifes zippered tote bag 3 different times. Twice in St. Thomas and again in San Juan with no problem. Not necessarily because of the $6.61 cost on the ship but for the convenience of sitting on balcony in evenings having a beer when I might want one. tallyho8 Posted September 23, 2014 #17 Share Posted September 23, 2014 If you drink Diet Coke beware of the Caribbean. They only sell Coke Light there and it does not taste the same.
Austinettecruiser Posted September 23, 2014 #18 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Has anyone ever brought on large bottles of mixed drink mix? I prefer a zero calorie Margarita mix. I have no problem purchasing a bottle of tequila from the ship just don't want the extra calories.
tallyho8 Posted September 23, 2014 #19 Share Posted September 23, 2014 We bring on two 750 ml. bottles of mix most cruises. I have not been able to find bottles of mix at most ports we stop at.
jennmaybe Posted September 23, 2014 #20 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Does San Juan sell "regular" sodas? We've been to SJ before, but never shopped for sodas, so I'm not sure. I know there is a CVS right there near the port, but was wondering if they sell regular coke/pepsi products.
tallyho8 Posted September 24, 2014 #21 Share Posted September 24, 2014 Yes they sell "regular sodas" but the cokes and other drinks may be in different packs or sizes than you are used to. Example: Cokes may be in 1.75 liter instead of 2 liter and may be in packs of 8 10 oz cans instead of 6 12 oz cans.

Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted September 24, 2014 #23 Share Posted September 24, 2014 Hint- bring your red/orange CVS Membercard if plan to shop there. That way can save $ on sale or store specials. I know this has saved us money on the 12 pack of sodas.
