mosquito#the45 Posted September 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2014 We will soon be going our first ever cruise, western Mediterranean on the Liberty of the Seas and I read somewhere that the currency used on board is us dollars and the good old plastic. Do they have any ATM machines on board so that we can arm ourselves with euros for shore visits?
Clarea Posted September 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) We will soon be going our first ever cruise, western Mediterranean on the Liberty of the Seas and I read somewhere that the currency used on board is us dollars and the good old plastic. Do they have any ATM machines on board so that we can arm ourselves with euros for shore visits? They do have an ATMs on board the ship. Another person posted the other day about Euros being available in the ATM in the casino. However, I would not depend on the ship ATM. Many times it's been out of order for us, and I don't know if you can count on it being stocked with Euros. I'd use an ATM in one of your ports. Welcome to Cruise Critic! Goodtime Cruizin Posted September 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2014 We just got off the Liberty. It was a wonderful cruise. Yes, there are ATMs available on the ship but as someone else has posted, I would not rely on them. Several in our group went to the Bank(s) ATMs in the ports. Langley Cruisers Posted September 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2014 We got some Euros from our home bank branch so we would hit the ground running with something... after that, as stated, the easiest way was to use an ATM in port. Do not do what we do and take a cash advance on your credit card there. We did that - classic rookie mistake! LOL If you can find an ATM linked with your own bank, there may be no surcharge. This info is easily found online. Have fun in Europe. :) .
