lynxie Posted September 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2014 Hi Please can anyone tell me if it's ok to take a smallish suitcase filled with bottled water and Pepsi max on board the Emerald? We live close to Southampton and it seems the easiest way to transport it. If so, do we check it in with the other luggage or would we need to keep it with out carry on bags? I will be buying the soda package but my husband only drinks Pepsi Max which you cannot get on the ship. Thanks in advance for any advice!

You can also just put a luggage tag on the carton of sodas or water. It will magically appear in your cabin.
CruiserBruce Posted September 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2014 No reason to bring more than one refillable bottle of water per person on board. The water on board is just as pure, if not more pure than any bottled water, tastes great, is FREE, and doesn't come with a plastic waste problem. Colo Cruiser Posted March 16, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2015 I agree, no issues with water or soda. ;)
UpcountryTravelers Posted March 17, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2015 We took two cases (will do it again) of Pepsi last cruise. Just put a luggage tag on it and left it with luggage at the port. Right to the room it went. (Actually, we taped them together and attached a carry strap to make it easier for all.)
hockeygal54 Posted March 17, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 17, 2015 The luggage tag thing didn't work in Houston last month. The porter refused to take our stuff and said we had to lug it aboard ourselves. Since we had one bag each and a carry on I decided we could handle all of that ourselves and our lousy 2-12 packs of soda my daughter needed. Don't know if this is a port policy or just a rude porter but I wasn't happy.
KruzPrincess Posted March 17, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2015 In December in San Pedro, I gave a taped up case of water to the porter and he said he didn't think he could take it. I said I believed it was OK and to try. The water only cost me a few dollars, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal if it didn't arrive. I'd taped my luggage tag on it. The porter took it and it arrived safely in my cabin. Next time, I think I'm going to put it in a duffle bag with a tag. To the OP: I've never tried this in Southampton, so I can't answer your specific question.
pablo222 Posted March 17, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 17, 2015 In December in San Pedro, I gave a taped up case of water to the porter and he said he didn't think he could take it. In Houston, the porter said 'no liquids'. I went to a different porter, and had no problem.
Treven Posted March 17, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 17, 2015 I,too, am a Pepsi-holic so I'll lug a case onboard on my walker along with my carry-on bag and laptop bag.
19woody19 Posted March 18, 2015 #12 Share Posted March 18, 2015 We just put a couple cases in one of those "shopping bag" containers from the super markets and never had any problems leaving from San Pedro. Just attached a room tag and they took it right away.

I find it hard to believe that he has never seen a case of water in his duties. Probably didn't want to deal with it. :(

hockeygal54 Posted March 21, 2015 #15 Share Posted March 21, 2015 This was probably a particular porter issue also and should've looked for a different one without such a narrow job description. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
