Casino Program Changes

Recommended Posts

Related to emails from Royal Caribbean, I had stopped receiving mail from them a couple of years ago. I recently changed my email address to a different one (that actually goes to the same account), and the mail started flowing again.

It's as if there were some sort of block-list that my old email address ended up on that prevented mail from being sent to it.

On my past two Royal Caribbean cruises, I had uninterested (Allure of the Seas) or non-existent (Independence of the Seas) Casino Hosts.

I had mentioned it in another thread somewhere, but I'll share it here again. On the Independence of the Seas cruise last year, I was told by the casino staff (since there was no Casino Host onboard) that I was not a "VIP" (despite having a Club Royale sticker on my SeaPass that I received when I picked up my cash rebate) and that I didn't even qualify for free alcoholic drinks in the casino. The lack of a Casino Host really changed the nature of the casino and I got no perks during that cruise.

It would have been nice to have gone into that cruise with some expectation of what specific perks I should be entitled to receive and been able to ask for them specifically. This is an area where NCL has it much better. Their web site details their player's club tiers and what you get at each tier so there's no surprise.

Have never ever been on a RCL cruise where there was NO casino host? Do you remember who was your host on the Allure?...K.O.

No, I can't remember who she was. I interacted with her just enough to find out where my missing rebate was. Other than that, she never even said "Hi" to me.

That is a far cry different from some of the excellent hosts I've had like J.J. MacDonald or Mark Cassidy, both of whom were very friendly and took terrific care of me.

Was talking to Club Royale Rep yesterday (changing cabins on cruise Hubby won on Oasis for next Dec.) Asked if any updates on roll-out of new program. She said it might be in May but wasn't sure. She also said it would be a Tier program based on last year's play but had no other information on the new program.

Oh dang. Of course they will never make everyone happy, but last year was so NOT representative of my play. I did 2 RCI cruises. One was with a bunch of other people and they didn't gamble so my level of play was down.

The previous one was even worse. It was when there was an oil spill in Galveston Bay and we sat on the ship in port for the first 3+ days and they couldn't open the casino. Oh well, I'll live. Mamma always told me "life's not fair."

Here is the email received from CR today,

For those who sometimes do not receive them.

Dear Graham,

You spoke and we listened. As we prepare to launch a new casino loyalty program, we want to ensure that loyal players ike you have every opportunity to make the most of rebates they've already earned. So we've extended your rebate benefits through March 15, 2016. That's a whole extra year to continue earning and redeeming your rebate benefits.

And, as an added bonus, when you book and sail by March 31, 2015, you'll get an extra 20% on your rebate!

If you're setting sail soon, we also want to remind you that your tier level in the new program is based on level of play, and the evaluation period is still underway for a few more weeks, through March 15, 2015. So come onboard and play strong toward new benefits on that horizon. If you aren't already booked, there couldn't be a better time for a last-minute gaming getaway.

A communication will be sent in April detailing our exciting new program. But rest assured, it's flush with new benefits, rewards and events. Designed from the ground up to enhance your entire experience, this program presents a whole new level of loyalty benefits – unlike any at sea.

Thank you for your continued loyalty. We appreciate your patience during this transition and look forward to seeing you onboard soon.

Sincerely,

Your Club Royale Team

So not confirmed that tier level will be based on 2014 play only,

As like myself I am sure a few members have called CR and expressed their

Views w.r.t all the $$$ spent from program start until 2014 not being taken into

Consideration;)

Thanks for posting, Graham. As I figured... no email here. According to Celebrity and Royal Caribbean in general, I'm not even sure I exist (except when it's time to bill my credit card)

We all know you exist:)

Maybe worth trying a brand NEW email address

We use gmail accounts for RC and both DW and myself seem to have no issues.

Not as many filters or blockers on gmail.

Although I am pretty sure you have already explored alternatives in an attempt to get emails through.

Happy Days!

I got that offer, too. I'm already going to be on Independence of the Seas one of those weeks, but I was slightly tempted to extend my vacation to take a follow-on cruise, but I really don't have the vacation days for that.

I also received the offer for the free cruise, ande'll also be on a cruise, but on the Freedom, in a couple of weeks, it will be difficult for us to do a B2B right now. They had offered us a free cruise last year in April. I thought March and April were busy months (Spring break). Also strange that my husband didn't receive the offer and he plays bigger than I do. Maybe they are sending it in batches and he'll get it later.

Also Daghis, I agree with you about Marc Cassidy. He was the best host we have had. Some were good and some not so good, but he was great. I asked Club Royale about him recently and they don't have him as being on a ship right now. Hope he is just on vacation.

I also got the offer. My wife can't get off work because we are taking 2 weeks off in June for Anthem. It is so tempting for me to go, but I would rather save my vacation days for when she can go with me.

Not that it's a big deal, but you don't get C&A points on the free cruises.

I also got it. But I'm already booked in Europe for spring break :( sad that I can't transfer it to hubby.

Also, I think this was my first free offer since joining.

New program you see, onwards and upwards:)

It's one way for CR to try and get existing members to bankroll their new tier levels, as I contradict myself because only play from 2014 will establish our new tiers.

So the free cruise is a smoke n mirrors attempt to soften the blow of losing all

Pre 2014 expenditure in the casino.

DW was also told today that tier levels for her and I will be different, and that highest tier will get the better option on cabin discounts

But if both got comp for speciality dining, then in essence you would be able to go twice for a nice meal complimentary of CR.

Happy Days!

I called and spoke with Jenna and she can't understand why I'm not getting the emails. Of course I DID check spam and it's not there. She asked if I were able to sail on the cruises in the email mentioned above, but between moving, selling this house, a cruise in April... well that wasn't going to happen.

So as some of you suggested I switched my email to the one in my signature here. I was using my regular gmail email to no avail. She was very nice and even remembered that I'd called before about this same issue. So weird.

She suggested that they're still working on the tier levels as far as qualifying and compensation but that if I hadn't heard by April to contact them again. Which I'm guessing I'll have to do.

While I was at it I also got my rebated lined up for my April cruise.

Again thanks, kids for keeping me in the loop via this thread. :D

I was told your new tiers will be mailed out with a brochure explaining new benefits in April. I was told they are not emailing them and that they will be mailed on a rolling basis with only x amount mailed each week.

Looks like some will be waiting a while:rolleyes:

What if you pay to upgrade?

A couple of years ago, my local casino gave away free Royal Caribbean cruises. We took the offer to sail on Monarch of the Seas. We were comped an oceanview cabin. Royal Caribbean's policy is to put you in the lowest available category in type of cabin. We paid $80 to upgrade to a higher oceanview cabin category. We did earn the Crown & Anchor points for that cruise, although I don't know whether paying to upgrade made the difference.

I know Celebrity isn't RCI but I got a comped Concierge Cabin cruise thru the Blue Chip Club and upgraded for a whopping $35 each to Aqua Class. I got my Captain's Club points on that cruise, and a previous no upgrade involved cruise comped by Blue Chip.

I know when I call a Blue Chip or Club Royale person they can handle Azamara, RCI and =X= so I was assuming (not a good idea I know) that it was handled the same as far as loyalty credits.

I don't receive their emails either.

I called them today after Graham's email and we're taking them up on their free offer. The balcony cabins they are offering are for Central Park and Boardwalk. I paid to upgrade and will receive double points for a JS. For us it was a very good deal :)

Thank you to Graham, please keep us updated on future changes.
