Boatingmom Posted October 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Anybody ever fly with them? Can anybody comment on their services? They have affordable flights for my upcoming cruise however I'm worried about flying an up and coming. Aleve my fears please and save me a few bucks:D
6rugrats Posted October 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2014 They are fine. Not sure why you would have any fears booking them. They've been flying over seven years and have to meet the safety standards of every other airline that flys in the US.
TruckerDave Posted October 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2014 They are usually rated very high in annual surveys of US based airlines. The only down side is their limited route network.
sitraveler Posted October 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2014 We were booked on VA by my cruise line. Nothing special, just another carrier.
2pbears Posted October 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 12, 2014 We flew VA to NYC and back in September. They are really just like any other airline except they have a more "hip, modern" feel. The safety instructions are done via a "hip hop" style video and the flight attendants are mostly young and dressed very modern. We would not hesitate to fly them again. In fact, we are looking at their pricing for the same route in Fall 2015.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted October 12, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) Just a friendly reminder....the airline code for Virgin AMERICA is VX. VA is the code for Virgin AUSTRALIA. And Virgin ATLANTIC is VS. Edited October 12, 2014 by FlyerTalker
chefchick Posted October 12, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Virgin America is my favorite domestic airline. The planes are generally clean, decent legroom, and good entertainment options. Although coach is fine, if your flight is more than a few hours, I would suggest checking into a paid upgrade to Main Cabin Select or First (24 and 6 hours in advance, if available). The website will tell you how to go about doing this, the cost, and what is included with an upgrade. In other words, don't worry, if the deal and routing is good, then go for it! sunsetme Posted October 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 12, 2014 always fly them from LAX to FLL, so much better than American.
worldspan Posted October 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) They are consistently rated the best US carrier and I can attest to that from experience. However, Wall Street right now does not like that and is pressuring their management to change their style to "a la Spirit". Hopefully that will never happen! They are the last decent carrier left here in the States! Worldspan Naples, Fla. Edited October 12, 2014 by worldspan
Boatingmom Posted October 12, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Thank you all for responding. I BOOKED them because they were affordablle for Easter break. Then I got nervous. As long as they are not dropping nuts and bolts, I'm good to go:D
