What do you request at guest services (especially the first day)?

Request the egg crate from your Steward.

The behind the scenes tours are available for a charge and will be listed in the the Daily.

Go to your Roll Call and meet the officers and put in your request to dine with an officer there.

Leave Guest Services alone.

I go out of my to avoid guest services on the first and last days. Too many people with "issues".

this....

Ditto. I never have anything that pressing that I need to go bother them at that time. I often wonder what it is that people need so dearly that it can't wait.

We went to guest services when our keycard wouldn't work. Other than that, we stay far, far away.....not my idea of a fun way to spend time.

Do your own tour of the ship...take pictures of the theatre, casino, etc. when no one is there. Scope out the bars and restaurants around the ship. Grab a drink and figure out where you want to be for sailaway. I wouldn't recommend wasting time at guest services. But that's just me. :)

Is it possible to get your keycard punched at the casino? I would love to get this done AND avoid the lines and mayham of guest services.

Yes, but the casino isn't open when in port. You might be able to ask up at the spa as well.

I use my pocket for my key card, or a very tiny cross body wallet when I have no pocket.

Not sure about the casino but, I've had it done in the gift shop. Although they are usually not open until after sail away.

I've never had "issues" or guest services needs. Oooops....did once immediately screw up setting a password for the safe. But I called guest services and they had a security guy up in a few minutes to reset it for me. That's it. We're just pretty happy campers (cruisers) always. Yea....I wouldn't bother them on that first day unless it's something pretty important.

Same things I might request at a hotel front desk, which is not very much. I think I bought stamps there once. Asked about an item on my bill that needed to be removed. Chatted with them at 2 AM one morning when they seemed bored. That about sums it up.

Ditto - crate from your steward, this gives you a chance to meet them and to sort out anything else you need in your cabin.

As to the question: I actually get confirmation of all of my OBC - especially since I use a TA. This gives the accounting dept. plenty of time to sort out any errors. Then I review my bill around 4-5 days into the cruise to make sure the charges are correct so far - no lines at all. Then on the last full day of the cruise I just look at the long line of people trying to sort out their onboard accounts, smile, and go have fun:D

I bring my own punch for casino card and room key, if you are on a cruise with me feel free to ask for a "punch":)

An online order of water and juices that never made it to my room at 7pm emwark day. Luckily, I had the paper receipt to prove that I wasn't making it up, which took about 10- 15 minutes due to them trying to find my room steward. During that time, I got to see some screaming and yelling from other passengers because their travel agent screwed up or something to that effect (wine, obc and diabetic food, from one couple; bed being too soft from the guy in front; room too dark in the interior room and wants a different room from another couple; room card not working for 9-11year old kid and her parents) It was interesting to say the least....Learned my lesson buy water outside and put it in the carry-on bag and hope the OBC works the same day, so I never have to stand in line at guest services and hear that again....

We stopped by the desk only once before we left port because we had a question about our OBC. We wanted to make sure everything was correct while still at port so we could contact our TA if needed. Otherwise, I agree with most of the others, stay away.

Later we have stopped once when I lost my key card :( , (I had it in my pocket, not in my bra, so that must have been my error), when we needed more of those cards to fill out about staff, and to check our bill.
