sunnysideup Posted November 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2014 Looking for opinions, pros and cons for the following: Western Caribbean... Reflection, Port of Miami to Cococay or Silhouette, Fort Lauderdale to Labadee We have been to Labadee and liked it a lot- esp the cabanas All other ports are the same for both cruises Thanks! teecee60 Posted November 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) As far as the SHIPS, we did two different two-week cruises on both Silly and Flex. Flex is a little newer, has better décor/art, and a nicer sunset bar. Silly has a MUCH larger Sky Lounge and a Quasar Disco that Flex does not. Both ships are absolutely gorgeous, with great food, drinks, crew and service. The only logical/rational solution to your dilemma is to try BOTH. ;) The ITINERARY is up to you! HAVE *F*U*N*! justcrusn Posted November 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 3, 2014 We prefer Silhouette, at least in Aqua class, but they are both VERY nice. It's sort of like the difference between Miss America and the first runner up, they're both beautiful.

At Labadee you dock, easy off, easy on. And you sail from Everglades. CoCo you tender, and Miami, Nuff said. Both ships are wonderful.

Both ships are wonderful. Lol, WALLIE5446 makes a good point... (love how his mind works always looking for the unexpected) If you have to decide between Ft Lauderdale & Miami regarding Entry / Exit Points (Ports / Airport / Land Traffic / even Hotels)... I'd pick Ft Lauderdale as well. Miami can be a rule zoo! Cheers!
sunnysideup Posted November 3, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted November 3, 2014 Thank you everyone. I was leaning toward FLL vs Miami as well. I just wanted to confirm that Cococay was not worth the switch over Labadee.

I just wanted to confirm that Cococay was not worth the switch over Labadee. Just a second, CoCo is WONDERFUL! As is the Reflection, our favorite S-class ship, well, at least for the next 7 days! Then we shall see if the Equinox gives her some compition! Our 1st time into CoCo was in 1987 when Admiral owned it. A number of times with RCCL. Are ya really confused now!:D
goofysmom99 Posted November 3, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 3, 2014 Took the Silhouette Transatlantic last year and the Reflection this year. Based on those two similar cruises, I'd vote for the Silhouette over the Reflection - you get all the goodies of the Reflection but with fewer people and better public spaces. I noticed the addition of the extra cabins and pax (Deck 12) in the wait for elevators and the crowds trying to get into Blu. That will probably ease up, I hope, when they open the suite dining area in April. I also think that Celebrity butchered the Sky Lounge on Deck 14 on the Reflection with the addition of the big suites. Taking away so much of the lounge is not a design improvement in my book. I too prefer Ft Lauderdale to Miami. Disembarkation this past Saturday in Miami was not pretty, although Ft Lauderdale isn't much better after a TA. (Best TA disembarkations I've ever experienced were in Boston and Newark Cape Liberty.) For a 7-day cruise, I don't think you'd notice much difference between the two, but I'd still opt for Ft Lauderdale.
hurwitz5 Posted November 5, 2014 #11 Share Posted November 5, 2014 I have been on many of the Solstice class ships, but not on the Reflection. (1) if you are flying in a night (or two) before sailing, the hotels in Fort Lauderdale near the port are less expensive than those in Miami. Many hotels in Fort Lauderdale also offer free shuttles to the pier. (2) We would rather dock in Labadee than tender into Coco Cay. We have 2 Caribbean cruises booked in January 2015, one on the Equinox and one on the Silhouette. We chose both of these cruises for the reasons stated above. sunnysideup Posted November 5, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted November 5, 2014 Thanks everyone for your perspective. If you were considering a stay in key west precruise, would that change anything?
Gracie115 Posted November 5, 2014 #13 Share Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) Thanks everyone for your perspective. If you were considering a stay in key west precruise, would that change anything? No, because the two ports are so close together that the extra 15 minutes of travel from one to the other is not an issue.... I would go for Silhouette just because you don't have to tender to Labadee....we've been scheduled 3 times for Coco Cay and never made it due to the rough seas.....
