we are going on our first princes cruise and wanted to know if you have to have cash to play in the casino or do you just use your room key. Thanks for any help you can give me

You can begin with cash, but the credits go onto your cruise card. They will show you how to set up the account. No machine gives money anymore.

If you're playing table games, you can use cash, get your chips and play. You can then cash in your winnings at the casino cage and get actual cash back. I don't play slots, so I never have to worry about cashing out my cruise card. :)

Cash is the ONLY way to gamble...bring the cash you're willing to lose, as that is the usual outcome!

You can get cash at the table from your room card as well, but it takes some time. I recommend cash for table games. For slots, its easy to pull from the card (almost too easy...)

At slot machines you can either put in cash or using your cruise card charge $$$ to your on board account.

 

Any money left over or won goes to your cruise card from the slot machine (you must remember to do this) and can either be used to play at another slot machine or cashed out at the casino cashier before it closes before the end of the cruise.

The secret is to know when to walk away. For the first time in a very long while, I made a total of $15.00 over two days and multiple visits to the slot machine.

 

The odds are definitely not in your favor. I can't tell you how many times I've left my money with Princess. I don't drink so this is my "bar tab".
