crusinpeg Posted August 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2005 I just finished viewing the Caribbean Princess Menus and don't see any mention of escargot. Is it true is there no escargot on the Princess? Please tell me it isn't so!!!!!

crusinpeg Posted August 20, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted August 20, 2005 Every Princess ship I have been on has it... Thats great...I'm assuming they offer it on the formal nights?
Rare Coral Posted August 20, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2005 It is on the French Menu which is also called the "Continental Menu". This menu was not used last year when I was on the Star Princess in the Caribbean - they used a "Caribbean Menu" instead. We did have it in Alaska this summer. If they have it, it will not be on a formal night on a 7 night cruise. What destination are you going to? IF you are going on a 7 night Caribbean, it may not be on it. This last year, they seemed to substitute the "Caribbean Menu" for the French/Continental Menu" on the 7 night Caribbean sailings.
Druke I Posted August 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2005 My wife always has escargot - I pass! As best as I can recall, it has been a Princess staple for the past 15 years or so.
Lillykat Posted August 20, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2005 I had it. I only saw it one night though. I think that was Thursday night - the 2nd formal night.
crusdiva Posted August 20, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2005 DH loves it and has it every cruise. Remember that once it's been featured on the menu you can request it every night!
crusinpeg Posted August 20, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted August 20, 2005 We are on the Eastern Cruise..they have a Caribbean night but no French night( maybe the menus I printed up are out dated)..Maybe someone who has just cruised the Caribbean can help me out? Princess no longer calls it French Night - I believe it's called Continental Night. It's not featured on the Caribbean Princess, the Caribbean menu replaces it. But if memory serves DH has had it on the CB on both of our cruises.

ckornuta Posted August 21, 2005 #15 Share Posted August 21, 2005 They served it on the 2nd formal night on the western carribean princess in may and it was fabulous!
Baxter Posted August 21, 2005 #16 Share Posted August 21, 2005 We learned something interesting about the escargot on our last sailing. My husband has a nut allergy. As usual, the head waiter came over to discuss his allergy. He was told that, other that the desserts, the only thing that had nuts in it was the escargot! I never would have guessed that there were nuts in the sauce. So they graciously prepared 2 orders for him, without nuts.
starprincess Posted August 21, 2005 #17 Share Posted August 21, 2005 Okay, is there on the Western Carribean or is there not? My other half wants to know.
cynbar Posted August 21, 2005 #18 Share Posted August 21, 2005 Well, we did the Southern Caribbean on the Golden last April. French Night was replaced with Caribbean Night (that was pretty good, actually) and we were disappointed because we thought we'd miss the escargot. No reason to fear, however -- it turned up as an appetizer on the 2nd formal night. A lot of epople look forward to it and, let's face it, it's not an item you see on many menus at home, so imagine they try to fit it in somewhere. If you' re going to make reservations for one of the alternative restaurants, just ask the person taking your reservation which night the escargot appears, so you won't miss it.
