Quantum of the Seas emergency stop

Quantum of the Seas made a brief emergency stop at Porta Delgata, on São Miguel Island at the Azores, Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at noon.

A passenger had become ill and rapid hospitalisation was necessary.

The sick passengers were taken from the ship by the local pilot boat and brought to a hospital in Porta Delgata after which Quantum of the Seas proceeded her maiden voyage towards Cape Liberty, NJ.

Wow hope the person will be ok. The Azores look stunning. Thanks for sharing. I thought the Quantum was taking a more northerly route according to sea scanner.

Hope that passenger is going to be alright. Looked like they had a full head and neck restraint on him. Hope he didn't fall during the rougher seas and hurt his neck.

He either did have a fall and is in full spinal precaution (must of been complaining of neck or back pain) or he's in a bucket for easier movement

Yes - they were operating the North Star when in calm waters - quite long queue - hope to get a North Star video by tomorrow.

Sea is much better now than Monday!

I saw in another thread that the captain reported the needed operation was completed and that the patient was recovering nicely.

what else would he tell you? the guy died because of what happened or that he will never walk again? - of course he is going to tell you - so that it has a happy ending...
