Be careful in Cozumel using ATM

be very careful they copied my fiend ATM card.. and they Emptied her account..they used it on a Town Near Mexico City..please be very careful using Credit cards or ATM...

Shes working with the bank!! they told her its insured and they going to refund her money..she did not used the card just try use on one ATM machine first floor at Punta Langosta Pier, and she cancel the transaction, that was the only day she try to use the ATM..Wondering if those ATM are legal? or maybe credit cards copy machines?

I would consider any stand-alone ATM as un-safe - just too easy for someone to put some sort of card skimmer on it. Stick with ATMs in banks

This is true in ANY foreign country! Do NOT use a free-standing ATM anywhere!!! The only ATM I will use in Cozumel is at the downtown bank or inside the MegaStore (grocery store downtown) or inside Chedraui (another grocery store on main street halfway to Puerto Maya).

 

WARNING!!!! Free-standing ATM machines appear on street corners, tourists use them, card numbers and pins stolen!!! The machines are gone or skimmers attached to them are gone before banks and customers are ever notified. It happens everywhere, in the USA and in other countries. Do NOT use them!!

Most cruise ships have ATMs. Some have the ability for you to get cash via your ship id/sign and sail card in the casino (requires a bit of finagling) and most Guest Services can assist in obtaining cash or local currency. No need to use port ATMs.

MSC does not have ATM that was the problem..neither on the casino..they told us that because its an European cruise they don't have it.

Sounds like a good idea, using the ATMs on the ship. Does Carnival have them?...Just in case...

 

Though I plan to use cash only in Mexico.

Yes Carnival Ships have ATM machines. The fee is about $5 which is crazy but I would rather pay the fee than risk theft.
