Hello all.

I'm currently on board the 11/23 Quantum sailing.

As most have stated, the ship is BEAUTIFUL! :D

From what I've heard from my fellow passengers, either you hate it or love it! LOL

After leaving Bayonne on Sunday, we encountered strong winds (70mph) until sometime late Monday. In my opinion, the ship handled the seas beautifully. I didn't seeor hear of many people being sea/motion sick but you definitely felt the motion. :D

I'm astounded the enclosed pool and solarium hasn't been packed to the extent you couldn't/can't find a lounger. The same be said of the windjammer and almost every venue. The passenger space ratio for awesome.

We're currently just off the coast of Florida and scheduled to arrive in to Cape Camaveral early (6am) tomorrow morning. Despite the rain, the temps have been mild to warm (upper 60s to mid 70s).

They still have areas in which to improve and are working hard to do so.

How was going thru security in Bayonne?

I was on the 11/21 sailing too so when I boarded on that date and it was less than 5 minutes.

Unfortunately, for those who boarded on 11/23, there were approximately 10-15 passengers from the 11/21 that did not debark on time and the 11/23 cruisers were delayed boarding.

The check in process is really quick! :D

Hi Tyron,

Hope you are experiencing better weather now (or at least soon). I've heard elsewhere on these boards that the casino was going 'no smoking'. What is the current smoking/no smoking situation in the casino?

thanks and - Have a great cruise!!

Hello ladies and gents from Nassau, Bahamas.

The weather today has been pretty good. Partly cloudy with temps in the mid 70s. We shared the port with the NCL Breakaway and Carnival Magic. Both left close to 6pm. Of course, we're in port until midnight.

The ship is definitely experiencing a lot of issues. It seems contractors are working on the elevators DAILY! I've been stuck TWICE so far. :D:eek: The main issues are been tech related (i.e., sea pass cards/Wow bands not working properly, some dynamic dining reservation issues, etc.)

The GREAT thing is the crew is working EXTREMELY hard to resolve issues as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, once the guests are pissed off there's no turning back!

I've eaten at Jamie's Italian and Silk...EXCELLENT meals and staff!!! :D

The casino still smells of smoke and I'm still seeing people smoke although not as many.

The ship is STUNNING! The passenger flow is fantastic! I haven't encountered a crowded area yet. Even when the weather has been bad the pool areas and restaurants still have plenty of seating.

I'll check on the Internet package rates and post later. They offer so many packages it made my head spin.

@ Biker. Trust me, there will be bad and good reviews. Most people I've spoken with either love or hate the ship....no middle ground it seems.

Some folks are stuck on other RC ship designs/layout to accept and appreciate this new class of ship. Pretty pathetic too because the ship despite the issues is fantastic!!!

Hi, Tyron.

So what are the differences so far from this regular length sailing and the 2 night sampler cruise?

Yael

Hey Yael. It's a lot more relaxed. Being an 8 nighter guests aren't in a hurry to do everything.

Hey Lillie. :D

The other problem in my opinion, a LOT of passengers aren't tech savvy so with this being a ship that relies heavily on technology, it really complicates and frustrates people when things aren't/don't work properly.

Hey Lillie! 😁😎. I'm having a freakin blast despite the issues. I think RC did too much, too fast!!

I'm sure they're learning a valuable lesson. Other than that, I will cruise on this class in a heartbeat.

Were the seas rough when you got stuck in the lift ?

On the Transatlantic one of the entertainers we know got stuck in a lift.

He was told the lifts have sensors so when the seas get too rough they stop

Another failing area in the technology if they are stopping for no reason:(

Eesh!!! Hope you're not claustrophobic :p

*knock on wood* I've only been stuck on a cruise ship elevator once in 31 cruises -- a glass elevator on the Carnival Victory at 2:30am when nobody was around. Still remember it to this day! Hopefully Quantum gets her elevators up and running smoothly ASAP. Perhaps RCI shouldn't have changed their elevator contractor for the Quantum Class after all...............

Thanks for the update, enjoy!

Hey Dave  Thankfully, we weren't stuck long but I think RC is learning very quickly what needs to be changed immediately.

The poor Guest Services staff have been ripped to shreds by guests all week.:eek:

We're missing Coco Cay today due to sea conditions so I'm sure the lines will be long at Guest Services today.

Hey Tyron,

Great to hear your Live Reports from the glorious Quantum. Sorry to hear about your elevator adventure.

We loved the ship so much we switched our Grandeur cruise to the 7-day Bahamas from Cape Liberty. Can't wait to back aboard and spend some quality time on this magnificent ship.

Enjoy the rest of your voyage.

Hey Jonathan. :D

I booked the Anthem for next December. I'm going to check out the 10/11 day itineraries too.

Thanks for checking in here....I had this cruise booked but decided to change it to Oasis on an August sailing. I have to say I'm glad I did now. Between reading about several different issues, a terrible itinerary and now missing Coco Cay. I've been so excited about Quantum that I haven't even thought that there could be a possibility we may miss Coco Cay in April.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise!:)

Great getting it live, keep em coming Tyron...

I can see why the tech savvy could get frustrated on the cruise. Again have they forgotten their meat and potatoes cruisers or really hoping the Millenniums have enough bucks to cruise a lot? I'm 64, wife 59, bumper cars, robotic drink makers, vending machine for wine, etc not so much for these bones. I am tech savvy, been a hobby since and useful tool since early 80's for me. Even I scratch my head now, simply took much tech supplanting normal life.

So to repeat the question, have they forgotten many of their good customers here by creating what they hope is a draw for the younger set?

@ Georgeny & roe2ship.

I trust when the Athemn and Ovation make their debut the issues will be completely resolved. The ship is so beautiful and so easy to navigate.

I love the connection to the sea. Lots of areas to sit, relax and watch the ocean.

The numerous eateries on board is another major hit.

I plan to try a Caribbean itinerary on the Anthem. :D

I think you are right. I do read about it though with other cruise lines as well. Princess missing Princess Cays, NCL missing Great Stirrup Cay, etc. All the cruises lines should consider building piers like in Labadee and Disney's Castaway Cay. Edited by roe2ship
