I am trying to figure this out...if I buy a gift card for $500, I get that right away and will be able to apply it to my S&S on my Dec 7th cruise. Right? Then in 2 weeks, I will get the info for the $50 promotional card and can use that on a future cruise? I have another trip in Jan aNd that would pay for an excursion.

I did the $500 ecard and got it in my email right away. Looks like you have to wait 24 hours to activate, but then can use it. You should be find using it by Dec 7th. Then use the bonus card for your S&S account!

FYI: applied for a Credit card just to get the bigger promo award. Unfortunately, they have 10 days to approve it. We were hoping to just use the card to pay off our cruise. Oh well. Still a good promo without the card.

I did it one at a time too. I was afraid if I did 4@500.00, they would say it was one purchase . States $500.00 and up gets 50.00 promo gift card, not that each 500 gets it.

Thanks sooooooo much to the originator of this thread. I would never have known about it. There is nothing mentioned on the carnival site. I had to phone them to learn sbout the search on the right side to find gift cards where it is finally mentioned. We sure do learn lots on this site.....and 200.00 in found money is great too.!

I have learned A LOT over the years on this site. (Earlier today I learned how to quote only a portion of a previous post.) It's nice to be able to be the one contributing for a change.

any monies left over will be put back on this gift card. You make sure you cash out your account the night before-- BEFORE midnight using the casino or the kisok located at gift services

Is it possible to cash out sooner, say, if I want cash for something else? Thanks.

IIRC, you can, at anytime the casino is open, put your S&S card into a slot machine, set up your pin number (if you haven't already) and load $$ from the credit card attached to your S&S card into your player bank. Then, I usually do at least a spin or two on the slot machine, just so I'm 'legal', and then take your S&S card to the casino cashier and ask to take a specific amount (or all of the funds) in your player bank in cash.

From what I've read here, and in the FAQ on the Carnival Gift Card site, you can't technically open your S&S account with that gift card, you must use either cash or a credit card to open the actual account, but then you can use either the kiosk or the GS staff to apply your gift card amount to your S&S account.

Clear as mud??

This is per the terms and conditions on Carnival's website:

Offer is for one promotional gift card for every qualifying card purchased and not for total order.

You can in fact only put a gift card as the only form of payment on your S&S account. Actually that's exactly what I did in May after purchasing a fair amount of GCs during the Father's Day promotion.

Just select cash account when doing your online check in and apply GC at GS or a self service kiosk. Never paid them a dime more in cash and did not give them a CC either. No problems whatsoever.

Does anyone know how/when the bonus part is applied? I tried to buy $500 but didn't see anything about the $50 bonus.

I didn't read through all the posts yet, um, I'll go do that, lol, but I bought a $300 yesterday and see NOTHING about the additional $25 :(

The only thing I noticed in the confirmation email was that the gift card will be activated in 24 hours. I purchased at 11 a.m. yesterday so I'll check in a few hours to see if the additional $25 was applied.

In the meantime I'll read through the rest of this thread to see if anyone else had this problem :)

OK, saw the other responses, thanks because fine print often gets ignored to me.

However, when I called in yesterday after not seeing the freebie, the lady on the phone said "just go ahead and purchase it and it will be on the card". Hmmmmm, carnival confusion! :D

Thanks for posting this! We leave tomorrow on the Magic  so I ordered a $500 e-card and got it already. I assume I present it either at check in or Guest Services to apply to my S&S?

We'll use the $100 Carnival Mastercard bonus in April on the Freedom. The points earned on this purchase will also help towards making the April cruise a free one with all the points we've accumulated.

I assume we will get our extra bonus cards after dec 1, just like it says. My question is, how do we get it deposited to our s and s account. I will do anything to avoid lining up at customer services. I assume my TA can have it applied. I plan on phoning my TA about the regular gift cards I got back instantly by email when I ordered them, and the promo cards when they come so only need to make one call.

Must admit the web site where you deal with gift cards is sadly lacking in information. Come on carnival, you can do better. I bet 80% of people buying this special have had to make a call to either CCL or their agent to get info. It should be online where you order. IMHO

You will have to do it on board either at Guest Services or at a self service kiosk.
