Oasis returning to Ft. Lauderdale

REALLY?? That is possibly the worst/heartless post I have ever read....

I feel awful about what's going on, but unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it.

But I have questions about the situation and asked as others posting may have the answer, and in case anyone else had the same. I guess I sounded callous. I'm just wondering about the things I may actually have control over. I'll try to search the forum instead.

Thanks all for the updates on what's going on.

Hubby and I are sitting on our balcony. Feeling very sober trying to wrap my head around what has happened. Life is so fragile, never to be taken for granted. Enjoy every moment and time with your family. We are p raying for the family and don't care how long it takes to leave port

My hubby works in law enforcement and he says it definitely sounds like someone has passed away on the ship and an investigation has to be done before the ship can leave port. So sad. My heart goes out to the families involved.

I've handled many deaths over the years and it is the most indepth and time consuming calls to handle. Especially if there's even a hint of suspicion.

This question was asked of the captain in the Q&A and he said they will always always do whatever it takes... The cost is never questioned. And it would never bet passed on to anyone. And it's way more safe to bring the ship into port then to do an air rescue so when they can that's what they will do.

Thank you for the information. I appreciate your reply.

I have witnessed an air rescue from a cruise ship before and it is quite a delicate operation to perform. There was no helicopter pad so they had to do it all from the moving helicopter. Scary looking stuff.

This is a nice perspective. I suppose even if we skip a port it's just another day to spend the day with the family on an awesome ship.

Any chance at all the police would be here if there weren't a death?

Stuff happens and unfortunately we are used to instant news and updates. This thread is an example of the techno world we live in. Aurianna, may have never experienced an emergency at sea so lets just give her some helpful info.

In an emergency, Captain and crew are first dealing with that emergency and the best thing you can do is relax and wait for the announcements from the Captain or other crew he may have make any announcements. They will let the passengers know what the plan will be when they have that plan in place. If excursions are missed you will receive a refund. First rule of cruising is be adaptable.

I consider the above to be excellent advice.

Strange feeling onboard right now. People just wandering trying to stay occupied. Casino is closed as are all of the shops. I was in the casino when they announced we were heading back to port. They gave 5 minute incremental warnings to when the casino would close. Never scene anything like this.
