Advise for arrriving by car

We just booked the Oasis for the first week in March, embarkation on Feb 28 in Ft Lauderdale, and wonder which way to go.

We could look for a hotel for the night before with shuttle service to the port and where we could park our car for the duration of the trip, or:

We could stay at a hotel an hour or so away and arrive at the port and pay for the parking there.

The preference would be that by parking at the cruise port our car would be available right after debarkation.

What are the charges at the port for a 7 day cruise....in March at the NYC port it was $40 a day.

Greetings

You can park at on of the off-site lots from $7.95/day. There are two just outside the main port gate and others around 17th Street.

We are both over 80 and want to avoid as much walking as possible so the lots at the terminal where the Oasis docks would be preferable to off-site lots just to avoid some money. $105 is not too bad.

Which terminal is the Oasis on?

Oasis and Allure both use pier #18. The terminal building there was specifically built/overhauled to handle those two ships.

Sorry, can't help you with any parking questions you may have for pier 18, but surely someone here on CC can answer any other questions you may have about parking.

It is actually less walking to use one of the off-site lots. When you arrive they take your bags out of your car and place them in the shuttle. You climb on board the shuttle and they drop you and your bags right at the terminal entrance.

The lot for terminal 18 is a large surface lot next to the terminal. You can drop your SO and the bags at the terminal but then you have to park the car in the lot. You would have to walk from your car to the terminal building. Depending on your space, it may not be very close to the terminal entrance.

Thanks everybody. We just as soon not deal with a third party, waiting for a shuttle, etc.

Driving up to unload the suitcase and parking across the street is what we decided to do.

We travel with one suitcase and a carry-on and walk off with them after docking and walk across the street to the car an we are off...

But thanks again for you input.

We will be staying in Port St. Lucie the night before our Oasis cruise and parking at the port. With the cost of the room & the port parking, it comes out less than the park & cruise hotels closer to the port! We also like to walk off and be able to get on the road home without the hassle of a shuttle.
