Folk Singer Posted December 18, 2014 #26 Share Posted December 18, 2014 Ironic- I remember a similar situation when we were on Noordam 3 in the early 80's. A group of casino employees were embezzling as I recall. Fellow passengers saw them being escorted off in handcuffs. It was the talk of the ship for a couple of days. interesting. Folk Singer Posted December 18, 2014 #27 Share Posted December 18, 2014 The ships are like small towns. There can be 'bad eggs' anywhere, so considering the sizes of the ships and the number of employees, it still is a very safe way to travel. As a passenger, it pays to ask to see your account charges from time to time, just to be sure you don't see any irregularities. I check ours everyday. Folk Singer Posted December 18, 2014 #28 Share Posted December 18, 2014 Thank you for the link. It is always sad to hear about this kind of stuff, but it happens in all walks of life. So true, but it is sad.

babyher Posted December 18, 2014 #31 Share Posted December 18, 2014 We do tend to hold HAL staff and crew in high regard, so it is so sad when something like this comes to light. Just because they smile in your face and "yes sir/maam" you while making your bed , cleaning your toilet and remembering what you you drink at dinner, doesn't make them saints . Rare TiogaCruiser Posted December 18, 2014 #32 Share Posted December 18, 2014 It strikes me as good that they picked up on this so quickly. So many times we read of these things going on for long periods of time. If these were the only occurances it sounds like there is a fairly effective set of checks and balances in place. Or the individual did something that made it easy to detect. (I was going to say "did something stupid" but stealing is just plain stupid IMO.) momatibm Posted January 2, 2015 #36 Share Posted January 2, 2015 He confessed of being guilty! Just because he confessed doesn't mean he's been convicted. He still has to appear at least before a judge to plead and be sentenced. He might also still plead not guilty depending on his attorney.
Topsham Posted January 2, 2015 #37 Share Posted January 2, 2015 (edited) Just because they smile in your face and "yes sir/maam" you while making your bed , cleaning your toilet and remembering what you you drink at dinner, doesn't make them saints . What on heavens are you talking about? Who are "they'? I think you should apologize to every person who ever smiles, calls you sir/madam, making your bed, cleaning your toilet, and remembers your drink at dinner. Don't forget passengers are not always saints either! Edited January 2, 2015 by Topsham

Don't forget passengers are not always saints either! NOBODY is a saint 100% of the time. I was referring to the way people on these boards (and it happens on all boards not just HAL) just can't grasp that one of their beloved staff or crew can be capable of any type of wrong doing. No one has said that they are 'perfect' HAL crews get a good reputation because for a real good reason! I doubt anyone here on CC are wearing blinkers.
