I would also like to know if you can sit at a large table with other people.

yes you can, you tell the hostess you want to sit with other people or that you're willing to share a table and they'll seat you at a large table. That's what we did. First night in Silk we ended up at a table for 8. Second night in Grand, they seated us at a 6 top with 1 other couple so there were 4 of us with 2 seats that were never filled. For lunch in American Icon Grill, we were seated at a large table and it was full. It seems the modern day cruising couple prefers to dine alone with their partner. In our house, we have always eaten dinner together (with the kids too!) so after 37 years of doing this, meeting other people to talk to is important to us!

Nice review, very detailed, thank you.

Oh, and just a quick fix for your signature: It was never HMS Queen Elizabeth but RMS Queen Elizabeth. RMS means "Royal Mail Ship". I should know as I own the builders certificate for her. ;)

And of course HMS stands for "Her Majesty's Service" which are British Navy Vessels

Hi

just found this thread and enjoying it - very informative.

Any chance you could post a picture of the alternative menu common to all dining rooms - we are booked on anthem for next year and am trying to organise dining but my party all like different foods so am keen to accommodate everyone.

Thanks

I'm attaching a picture of the Simple Tastes menu, which is different for each restaurant. Basically, it is simpler versions of items on the regular menu.

With some of the changes now being done on QN, I wonder if RCI is now offering an alternate menu similar to the rest of the fleet that would be the same in each dining room

Thanks so much for providing that. I asked for that in the Grande, and our waitress said she never heard of it. She said the only extra menu was that for children. Friends we met on board knew better, and during dinner one night, got one from their waiter, and brought it over to our table, to show our waitress, who then acknowledged its existence....;)

I just spent quite a while summarizing the cruise, and when I went to attach photos, there was an error that caused the window with my post to close. So now I'll post photos and worry about text some other time.

There are closets on either side of the bed. One is narrow - we put our winter coats in it and didn't open again until we returned to Bayonne. There is storage above both the bed and the sofa. Some of the storage was used to hold extra bedding, but at least half was available.

When I looked down from the balcony, I saw a lifeboat, but if I looked out, I saw the ocean. It was not priced as obstructed view. The orangey-yellow haze in the center of the photo is, I think, an artifact of the light hitting the lifeboat.

Bad news, NY212. You are right. There is nowhere in the casino without smoke. It is quite unfortunate, and quite unpleasant.

Occasionally you luck out at the slot machines and it just HAPPENS that no one near you is puffing away. But good luck!

Here ya go. I'll save you the trouble. ;)

I don't see any champagne listed. I don't recall if it was listed on any of our past cruises but I know we were served champagne. Is this a new change for the DL or CL? Am I correct in assuming we won't be able to get champagne at the bars during DL CL cocktail hours? Thanks for all the input.

NY212 I am enjoying your report. Thanks for taking the time!

Even though it may not be listed, our experience has been that there is a house champagne (or sparkling wine) that is available in the lounges.

ny212 we have reservations on the quantum for March 21 and was getting very nervous about this cruise and wondering if we should have done a different ship However after following your reviews you have relieved a lot of my worries.. I appreciate you taking the time to post these reviews

I am on the 2/20/15 sailing and was feeling the same way. After reading NY 212's excellent reviews I feel much better. I am still having difficulty with the cruise planner, but after reading the reviews I don't feel as anxious about making them, knowing I can probably change them once I am on board.
