gooch47 Posted January 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Last year we received more of these than we could use. We took advantage of seven of them by doing b2b's. This year, we have only received two. Our play at the Horseshoe in Cincinnati and the Harrah's in NOLA is the same as, maybe better, than last year. We have received none from them. The two we did get was from Gulf coast, Biloxi, and we spent only a couple days there before receiving the offers. For those of you who do get these offers, have you noticed a decline or is it just us?

I use to get a couple of certificates for 2 nights free for friends or family and didn't get them this year. I called my casino host and she said that they weren't doing them, because based on survey results folks didn't like them. Also, I've noticed lately that I don't get as many offers from Las Vegas (my primary location of choice) and get more offers from New Orleans and Lake Tahoe and as a result, I'll be going to those locations instead of Las Vegas to take advantage of the offers. I'd give your casino host a call and see what is going on with the free cruise offers. Edited January 6, 2015 by NLH Arizona
gooch47 Posted January 6, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Casino Host at Cincinnati was useless. When my hubby reached his Tier 1 Diamond status and I was just plain Diamond, his offers shut off completely for everything. I still got good offers. We asked her to look into it. Her answer was that he was in a different mailing group than I was. Well, duh! cut off the higher roller?
brookie848 Posted January 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2015 My parents are both Diamond and they did not receive any cruise offers last year, which surprised them. They play primarily at Harrah's in Atlantic City. When they were in AC in December, CAS was there, but my parents didn't receive an invite for that. I always wonder how they determine who gets these. I received one from my local casino (Saratoga) a few years ago. And this was after visiting there all of two times that year and taking $100 or less in spending money both times. It boggled my mind that I got a free cruise for that. I understand coin-in, but still -- I couldn't have given the casino that much money!

Well, duh! cut off the higher roller? When I asked my Las Vegas casino host why I wasn't getting any good offers for Las Vegas (get very little comp play), she said that they didn't need to offer folks things to go their, where New Orleans (where the offers are huge) and Tahoe (also huge offers) needed to bring in gamblers to their properties. In that I'm retired, I've got no problem flying to New Orleans (which I'm doing after I get back from my upcoming Celebrity cruise) or Tahoe for a few days for good offers. Possibly it is the same for the properties you frequent.
gooch47 Posted January 6, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted January 6, 2015 That has been our speculation, too. They assume my husband will gamble despite not getting offers but it has backfired for Cincy, at least.

I'll go a couple times a year to meet friends there, but not near as many times as I've been going and I won't be gambling as much as I have in the past there. gl1200a Posted January 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2015 There is no rhyme nor reason to Caesars/Harrah's TR casinos madness. I've come to the conclusion they have no clue to their marketing strategy. I've slashed my play with them in 2014 and plan on nearly boycotting them in 2015. This after being Diamond for over 15 years. Only real benefit to Diamond is the free parking in New Orleans when you go on a cruise!
gooch47 Posted January 6, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted January 6, 2015 We agree. We love staying at Harrah's in NOLA for the easy access to the cruise dock and the parking, too. It has been our primary casino since last spring, but they too are ignoring us. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T217A using Forums mobile app
chrisaf Posted January 6, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 6, 2015 I think I have seen at least 3-4 offers from the various Caesars properties that we frequent in either Las Vegas or So. Cal. in the last 6 months or so. If you are looking for more comp ones that you are receiving from Caesars - honestly I have found that just calling the Casino at Sea people gets me relatively the same offer I would receive in a comp certificate. We always upgrade our room to a suite and have never had a problem just asking for that rather than waiting for a certificate. They always work it so that we pay for the difference from a standard balcony room to a suite which is actually better that a lot of the Caesars comps which are only inside or ocean view rooms. tel2 Posted January 7, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 7, 2015 I too have found that I am getting much better offers by calling CAS directly. My husband and I are both Seven Stars, and while we continue to get cruise offers from Harrahs AC and Harrahs Philadelphia, they have of late all been for inside cabins (whereas previously, we always got them for balcony). The last three times I had a Harrahs certificate, I called the number for certificates, and got the upgrade price for inside to a a mini suite or suite, then called CAS directly and priced the same cruise thru them. Each time, CAS offered a much much better deal - the first time comping us a mini-suite with a very low upgrade price for a suite (Dawn - for February 2015), the next time a large balcony minisuite comped on breakaway to Bermuda (taken in October 2014), and the last time offering a two bedroom suite completely comped (Epic in Med 2016) Terry

The Indian Casinos and Harrah's give at least 4 or 5 a year. We are doing 4 back to backs starting in February.
riddle Posted January 7, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 7, 2015 I agree on Cincinnati and others. I have gotten nothing in quite a while and even my free play has dropped. I used to get offers from Indiana but nothing now - though I admit I have not been there in a while. I do have a free cruise offer in Vegas but that defeats the purpose unless you are going to Vegas anyway (from Ohio). Had a host ask me a couple of weeks ago if she could do anything for me and I told her that she could give me a free cruise. She didn't even seem to know what the program was about. I got 2 free buffets instead which I already get all the time, Also, have noticed video poker machine changes, not to my liking.
garycarla Posted January 7, 2015 #14 Share Posted January 7, 2015 If you are playing onboard at any decent level, just call CAS and they will book you direct. As to the offers from a land casino... they are just one of the many promotions they do. They come and go.
Pappion Posted January 7, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 7, 2015 I'm only Platinum and I got one this year. They have date limits on the cert, but any ship, any sailing within those dates. We probably won't get to use it, but we got a good deal through CAS direct without one so I'm not too heartbroken. I have only had one before, and it literally only had 7 cruises on it to choose from on very specific dates. I have no idea how they decide who gets them and when. gooch47 Posted January 7, 2015 Author #16 Share Posted January 7, 2015 I just thought of a possible explanation. We are not high rollers on the ships. We limit ourselves to $100 each risked per day. Maybe we need to rethink that. But like someone on another thread said, it doesn't make sense to lose more in the casino than you would have spent on the cruise in the first place unless you would have done it anyway.
