Hi, while aboard the Eclipse (Dec21/Jan04) I looked at booking British Isles (June9) cruise. Checked the pricing on line from the icafe, inside gty, $CDN, 2069.00 plus 306.00 tax, total 2375.00 X2-4750.00. Went to Future Cruises to book and the pricing was $CDN 1979.00, plus 306.00 tax plus 270.00 port fees. total 2555.00 x2-5110.00. Booking onboard promo was 150.00 OBC. So where's the benefit of booking onboard.

One of the numbers are wrong? No reason that a cruise booked on board would cost any more that one booked on line at the same point in time with the same offers. The OBC would just be an additional benefit for booking on board at the on line price.

Where are the port fees in your on line price? Aren't the taxes and port fees approximately $270 a person?

I apologize if you already know this, but when you see the price on line on the bottom it says that the taxes and fees are not included in the initial price.

It can work both ways. I have booked on the ship. I got a nice price on one cruise. It was the same ship same route the next year. I have also inquired about booking while on the ship. Other routes often are higher. You can check prices on the Celebrity website and compare. If you do book while sailing, you can get your deposit back. Cruisers while cruising are a great target for selling future cruises Know your prices. Do not get caught up in the moment.

It would appear to me that you pay a reduced deposit and get it back immediately as OBC on your current cruise. Once you get home you then transfer to your TA and then they give you a significant extra OBC which is effectively a large discount. If you are unhappy, you always retain the right to cancel - you lose nothing just get a great deal, that's the benefit.
