How much per day held for American Express

Thanks for your quick answer, we do pre paid grats, pay specialty dining in advance and are Diamond so there won't be much charged on the ship, was hoping they weren't going to hold 100.00 day or something like that.

Never noticed any holds or pending charges on our credit cards.

I use my Amex to secure my onboard SeaPass account always and no holds done at all...don't worry about it. You also have the choice to pay cash towards your account in part or full before you disembark the ship if you choose to.

On our Visa, we get an authorization each night overnight in the amount spent on the Sea Pass that day. They would drop off a day or two after the cruise. The final single charge for the full amount of onboard spending usually showed up a around the time that the authorizations dropped off.

Yep! Love the OBC with the AMEX Platinum card. A little upset they took away the free specialty restaurant for two. :(

I agree with you. Since we cruise several times during the year the car pays for itself. I wonder who was behind the specialty take a way. I would be RCL. :)

^^ This has also been our experience with AMEX.

I have always wondered who pays for the OBC and specialty dinners (when we had them)... was it Royal or was it AMEX? I assume is Royal.

At least they increased balcony OBC to $200, but I hated that JS OBC went from $300 to $200. We are usually in a balcony or JS and the extra $100 was often enough for us to go to the JS.

But I agree that the card pays for itself if you know how to use it. We love going to the Delta lounge when we fly Delta and the $200 yearly airline credit is a nice plus.

I have a cruise in Feb & March, both in JS and the OBC is $300. Looked on Plat benefit site and it still says $300. Where did you see $200 ??? :)

Trying to find the email from my TA, but cannot find it. They recently changed the OBC for new bookings.

GS and above... $300

Balconies and JS... $200

And I remember inside cabins get $100, but don't remember what ocean views get.

I'll dig a little deeper for the email from my TA. Maybe they changed it back???

Found this on AMEX site...

I checked my bookings. Got the $300 for JS on the Brilliance on 3/9/15. My feb cruise on the FOS is in a GS & $300 OBC.

In the wording you attached it uses the word Mini-Suite. The only cruise line I know of using that term is Princess, so maybe on Princess it is $200. So far I am cool with RCL & $300 on JS. Let me know if you hear differently. :)

I was getting $300 for a JS for a March 2015 cruise, but I canceled and changed to the Oasis and lost the $300 and had to settle for $200. So as long as you keep booking GS you will get the $300. But any new bookings with a JS will sadly only be $200.

Happy sailing!!!

I am starting to look at Princess where you can use the Amex and also stack some OBC's like stockholder, military. Adds up after awhile . :)

Did you book the cruise thru Amex to get the credit? I made my final payment with my Amex card, but I'm not getting any perks for it.

The perks come with the Amex Platinum card. I have been using a TA lately and she is able to get the perks. :)

As it was said, we have the Platinum Charge Card, and I think you have to go through a TA to get the AMEX perks, but I am not 100%.

Royal Caribbean is starting to crack down what promos are combinable with the AMEX perks. :(

There is a number at Royal to call for the benefits but as usual I can't find it. I find going through my TA works better because she always gives an additional OBC. :)
