jgo Posted January 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2015 First time to cruise. Need suggestions on a one or two day cruise in April 2015. Have been reading on the Grand Celebration to Bahamas. Quoted $800 for four(cabin 181 sq feet). Not sure if that is a good deal. Open to suggestions. Is the Grand Celebration the only 2 day cruise available in Florida? It's an older Carnival ship that has been sold, then sold again and now being retrofitted for this new sailing as the company's old ship had an accident and was pulled out of commission. As the ship is not even in service, you won't be able to get any kind of answer on how the cruise ship or experience is. There are other options in Florida for short cruises, but the shortest is usually 3 nights.

Corby114 Posted January 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Grand Celebration is a very old ship that previously sailed for Carnival. It was sold in 2006 and sailed in Europe for a Spanish themed cruiseline. It was recently sold to the Grand Celebration Cruise Company after there last vessel struck an underwater object and suffered extensive damage. The Bimini Superfast ship is basically a ferry that runs between the Port Of Miami and the island of Bimini. You are better off finding a short three day weekend cruise on either a Carnival or Royal Caribbean ship that sails out of the Port Of Miami. Royal Caribbean's Majesty of Seas is a beautiful ship that entered service back in 1992 and provides enjoyable three and four day cruises from the Port Of Miami to the Bahamas. Capt_BJ Posted January 23, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) if you watch the prices you can get a Friday to Monday on ENCHANTMENT of the Seas from Canaveral for under $150 per person (I've seen as low as $129) ... two to a cabin .... inside cabins. This cruise would go to Nassau and Coco Cay (their 'private island') wrt Bimini Superfast, realize that Bimini is only a 2 hour sail from Miami ... the ship is basically a ferry taking you to Bimini altho it does park and you can stay on board or upgrade to stay at the associated shore side casino/resort. BUT their web page does offer a 2 or 3 day trip from $88 per person with 3rd and 4th person free . . . . http://rwbimini.com/special-offers/cruise-packages [two of my nephews and their father recently went from Miami to Bimini and back for a 3 day stay in their 17 foot boat, with one outboard motor ..... I did not say they were smart. The "old way" to get there was via seaplane from CHALKS Airlines in Miami .... until their rather spectacular crash when a wing fell off one of their poorly maintained seaplanes while taking off down "cruise ship row" in Miami] Edited January 23, 2015 by Capt_BJ

Definitely young and dumb  Off season RW Bimini has $45 per person rates.
brunello22 Posted January 31, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 31, 2015 My coworker just sailed on Bimini Superfast with her husband and two kids last weekend (last minute deal) and it was $154 for four of them! It is more expensive to stay home for the weekend! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
