Find the roll call thread for your cruise and see if anyone is willing to share a chartered van with you. We chartered an 11 passenger van from Supershuttle for about $140 and shared the ride with two other couples, so it cost us less than $50 for the two of us. You can also book ground transportation to the airport through Royal Caribbean for about $35/person.

we used Uber to go from Hobby to the port for less than 60 bucks. Our Uber driver informed us that Galveston is not very Uber-friendly and we might not be able to get a ride back post-cruise. So for the ride back we split a cab with another couple. The kicker was when the cabby tried to get both couples to pay full fare ($100 EACH, so $200)! Ummmm "All passengers ride for the price of one" buddy! And cabbies wonder why they're losing to Uber!

Rccl told me 95,pp round trip

that sounds like the RT price for IAH/Bush airport. We recently paid $47 pp one way for transport to IAH.

hobby is closer and should be cheaper. Recheck that price if you want to use the cruise line transfer, though that can be a tad cumbersome if flying in a day early (airport to hotel via shuttle, next day hotel to airport via shuttle, check in with cruise line agent, wait for transfer bus to fill). I'd try to arrange my own transit to port, possibly sharing with others from roll call.

Aslo read the Gulf coast thread; there is a fair bit of Galveston advise. There are some very knowledgable and helpful locals....plus some of us far flung souls share our experiences, too.

Depends how many people, but we found the cruiseline transfer to actually be the cheapest when we went a year ago.

We did that on the way back to the airport post-cruise. On the way to the cruise we stayed at Days Inn Hobby and used their free shuttle from the airport, then used Extreme Elegance limo to get from the hotel to the cruise.

There's no such thing as a hotel free shuttle from Hobby Airport to Galveston. We stay at the La Quinta Hobby Airport. Their cruise package is one night at the hotel and up to 4 transfers to the port and back the next week for $249 (about $130 more than just booking the hotel). We did it last year and tried to find something cheaper for our cruise next month but ended up just going back again.

We checked earlier this week and RCI transfers between Hobby and Galveston are $64 RT. So for two of you this would end up being cheaper if you don't need a hotel.
