MDR and Pinnacle Table Size

Which class of ship?

I have seen them combine table along side wall of Pinnacle on Maasdam to accommodate 12 people. Other classes of ships have different layout.

As to MDR, you probably will need two tables beside each other though there is one table on lower level of Vista/Signature ships I've looked down on from upper level that might squeeze twelve. For fifteen people in MDR, you will need two tables.

Do know most ships have tables for 10 (used to be the 'captain's table). Check on HALFACTS.com as they have MDR schematics. You may need a section in the MDR for a larger group but the Pinnacle usually has a 'back room' for larger groups. Have seen them add a table extender to the 10-top table for larger groups.

May be a good idea to ask about using a side room, especially for 15 people. Most ships have an adjacent, separate room where they can serve dinner - these used to be called the King's Room or the Queen's Room. My family would tend to get loud so a separate room would be perfect for us.

Thanks for the information, we will be on a Signature Class ship.

Depending on how many people you end up with in your group, consider two tables for 6, plus a table for 4, all in a grouping. That way you can chat easily at one table, do a little chatting cross tables, and switch people around to different tables every night.

A few cruises ago I was in a group of 16. There was a rectangular table for 6 at the window, and a table for four next down. Plus there was a round table for 6 across the little walkway. It was a great set-up.

Further to what RuthC says, adopt a rule that you can't sit at the same table that you sat at the night before; and you must sit next to different people each night. That will make sure that everybody gets time with all members of the family over the course of the cruise. :)

On the Signature class ships, in the Pinnacle, the back room does have a way to configure a table for 15 people.

This is the room that is used for Chef's Rudi's dinner. It is limited to 18 people on these ships even though one time we had 19 at the table.

You will have to talk to the Pinnacle manager once on the ship to select a night you can use the back room.

None of the others tables in the other parts of the Pinnacle can be pushed together for that large of a group.

All this information has been most helpful! Thank you.

While doing all your booking and planning be sure to have all of your reservations linked to each other. If you have TA's, they should collect every one's confirmation number and arrange with HAL you all get same dining assignment.
