Can I take a cake?

it depends, this is the regulation regarding food items:

Food Items must be pre-packaged and unopened; homemade items or pre-cooked foods will not be permitted onboard. Limitations on permitted food items are directly related to concerns for food safety and contamination prevention. We unable to provide food preparation, refrigeration or storage for personal food or beverage items.

so, if they're commercially produced, packaged and labelled, you may be able to bring them onboard. however if they are homemade, then no they could potentially not be allowed.

I got married in St Thomas while in port on oasis of the seas (RCCL) and I was allowed to bring my half eaten wedding cake back on board for our reception with no problem. I know it's a different cruise line but they all follow the same regulations.

I say you will be fine.

USPH requirements do not allow homemade foodstuff from coming onboard. Having said this, is it scrupulously enforced? No, sometimes it depends on the embarkation port, and what kind of day the security guard had. While technically, the ship should follow USPH requirements everywhere (just from a consistency basis), they may be a little easier in foreign ports, knowing that the cake would be eaten before returning to the US. They are certainly stricter about taking foodstuffs ashore in foreign ports.

You can bring them, but be prepared to lose them.

DD got married in Key West last March. The Wedding Co. Gave her a cake. We were allowed to bring it back on board and took it to the dining room the next night (that night we all ate in the steakhouse). The servers cut it up for us and sang "Happy Wedding" to them.

If they are a recognized vendor for the cruise line, then their baked goods would meet the USPH requirements to be "reliably sourced", meeting all local health regulations.

We did not do the wedding through the cruiseline, therefore , they were not "recognized" vendors. They never asked about the cake, nor did they even look in the cake box. However, You are not allowed to bring unpackaged food off the ship.

Well cake pops. I want to have them made for our 20th anniversary and take them on the ship. Will they give me a hard time over it?

I brought a small wedding cake on board in 2013 in Jacksonville. Publix made it and it was in their box and I carried it on in a bag. No problem.

Crap!

You made me laugh hard...just the sequence of it all..I understand...

Had to look up cake pops...if you make them my guess is no...but it in a professional mailed package my guess would be yes, you could pre-clear with Carnival..I googled them and found company's that make them but expensive...but looked very nice..upcomomg Easter ones etc.

Maybe they would give you the ok..but would clear food stuff first...would be so mad to see paid or even more so ones i made tossed over..

See what Special Services will do...maybe they can make them..they have sticks for all kinds of kabobs and cupcake and I bet maybe even little molds/ramekins that may work...Sarah

as you can see below, per the same faq, there are restrictions regarding food not present within the list of 'prohibited items'...

Bringing Food Items Onboard Due to Dietary Restrictions

Items must be pre-packaged, unopened and cannot require any food preparation from the dining staff. Homemade items or pre-cooked foods will not be permitted onboard. All items will need to be stored in the stateroom; the ship's storage and/or refrigeration are not available for this use.

Limitations on permitted food items are directly related to concerns for food safety and contamination prevention. Carnival Cruise Lines is unable to provide food preparation, refrigeration or storage for personal food or beverage items.

which is the same thing i posted earlier. again, that's not to say some cake pops may not 'fall through the cracks' but technically it is not allowed and shouldn't be planned on.

Every time we go I order a $10 chocolate cake with the mousse filling for someone's birthday or anniversary or just a bon voyage one if no one has a special occasion.

Everyone always raves about how good they are and I believe they are the best value of anything that Carnival sells.
