getupgo Posted February 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2015 I just found out my OBC cannot be used for gratuities. We booked all our excursions online. Have I read a way to get cash thru the casinos? Were having a slot pull with our roll call. Can I use the OBC there? We're onboard and pulling out in 4 hours. I hope some of you smart cruisers are on line and can help me.
Rare kjquilts Posted February 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2015 You can pull cash out at the casino. Just go to the casino desk and ask for $100 or whatever amount you want to be charged against your stateroom. They will give you a form to sign and the $100 and a $3 service charge (3%) will appear on your shipboard account. If you have a lot of OBC I wouldn't do it all at once. If you want to give an additional tip to your room steward or butler/concierge if in a suite you can go to guest services and request a gratuity voucher that will also be charged against your account. This is not the same as the daily service charge. Another use for OBC - cruise reward certificate. Cost $250, $100 OBC posted to your account so net cost to you is $150 that will be paid out of your account. Have a wonderful cruise :)

Rare KeithJenner Posted February 22, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2015 If you plan to cruise with NCL again then I'd also recommend the future cruise credit. It basically turns your OBC into an even larger amount of cash (once you make your next booking).
njhorseman Posted February 22, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2015 Actually your OBC can be used for gratuities. You can't use it for the daily service charge. We use our OBC to pay gratuities for our butler and concierge every time we cruise.
getupgo Posted March 2, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted March 2, 2015 I cannot understand how. I asked them to apply gratuities to OBC and they very clearly said no. It can only be applied to purchases. This was on NCL Sun on Feb 22. I went to the casino and paid 3% to get cash applied to my card. Worked fine. I'm doing Carnival next year so I can go to Aruba from Port Canaveral. DH won't drive to Miami.
