CAS Elite Level

Wow, I shot off an e-mail to CAS and received a very quick response....

Elite gets:

Photo discount 20%

Art discount 20%

Neither interest me as I never have my photo taken so don't buy.....

and I don't buy Art on the ships.

For sure something NOT to work up to!

I'd really thought it would be more than that since the jump is from 35,000 for VIP to 100,000 for Elite.

Wow, I'm really shocked! LOL

That is shocking, actually. That's it? For real? Wow...

Yes Wow! I've got the e-mail in black and white. I'm going to call on Monday and speak to a Manager - I just can't believe it.

With what they've already removed one has to even think if it pays to be Golden - Golden nore VIP no longer gets breakfast/lunch as a perk.

Every Gold Latitudes member gets a 20% discount and if you are Platinum you get 25% off already. How many high level casino players spend any time at the art auctions? I think they would rather spend their time in the casino.

I had to laugh at this from the Casinos at Sea page;

The more you play, the more you get rewarded. And we’re always sweetening the perks so that you can enjoy the most rewarding casino experience at sea.

In my opinion they are watering down the perks not adding to them.

Back a few months ago when they were thinking of adding the "Priority VIP Plus" people responded with their disapproval by contacting the company and things were changed. Does anyone have contact information for writing to CAS in regards to dissatisfaction with the changes to the casino perks? Casino players spend a great deal of money on the ship and we deserve better. I for one would be sending off a letter.

Since the dropped the Cagneys breakfast/lunch perk, we are looking elsewhere. They saved just a few dollars, but now lost the hundreds/thousands that I would have dropped in the casino.

But, they know better. Right?

I honestly don't know what NCL was thinking taking away the Cagneys breakfast/lunch perk from the Gold and VIP folks.

I received an e-mail back from a CAS supervisor. She said she looked into this for me and said the additional perks also included:

Spa Credit increases to $500

Private transportation (50 mile radius) to and from airport or home.

I told her, once again, that the 20% discount on photos means nothing to those that are Platinum since Platinum gives them 25% and the 20% discount on art means nothing because Platinum already gives 20% so basically those are not good for anyone who is Platinum.

Also, between you and me.....most people live further than 50 miles away from the port and if flying in from far away usually fly in the day before and it doesn't say 'hotel' it just says airport.

Spa increase to $500. Lots of people, I guess would use that but I'm not a spa service type of person. I'd probably just get a spa pass for the day for me and whom I'm traveling with.

Still....

Not impressed.

Harriet,

Did your contact indicate if there was anything else for Golden and VIP other than what is listed on the website? Or dollar amounts for spa credit for those levels?

In my opinion there is a few perks for Golden that might be worthwhile but I see no real incentive for trying for higher than that. If you get there it's okay but I certainly would not 'work' for it. In all honestly I think one would be better off just going on a cruise by cruise basis and building up a good rapport

with the casino host and manager once on the ship.

Now if they wanted to be more generous with the cabin category they comp at those higher levels then that might be a little different. Such as an Elite level player being comped a certain number of Haven cabins per year. That would be a benefit worth working towards rather than what amounts to a couple of coupons.

Nope, what's on the website for Golden and VIP is what it is.

Spa credit for Golden is $150.00 and spa credit for VIP is $300.00. You must let the Host know what you booked so she can contact the spa and let them know they're paying for it. It won't cover tips. I *think* you can apply this towards a weekly pass but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I'm afraid I have to agree. With the removal of breakfast/lunch there's not much difference between Golden and VIP.....and for sure from VIP of 35,000 points to Elite at 100,000 points it's just a joke!

Agree! However, that wasn't mentioned.

That's what the casino wants, too, " going on a cruise by cruise basis ", because that's what is most important to them.

As land based casinos, usually your last cruise/visit is the most important factor as far as what cabin category will be comped.

As far as tier perks go, they are secondary to the comps extended during your cruise. Example: a $500 comp can be earned for spa during a cruise regardless of tier level.

There is a big difference between a person attaining Golden after 6 cruises and one that attains it in one cruise.

The "Cagney" benefit could be quite easy (relatively speaking) to attain for a person sailing 6x a year or (2) persons sailing 3-4 times a year, playing on the same card.

Caesar's Entertainment has changed their tier requirements over recent years to reward the stronger "per trip" player. I see NCL going in a similar direction and valuing the strong player.

I use the term strong/stronger for lack of a better word; high roller, big hitter, premium player and the like.

The perks definitely sound crappy for Elite level. The transportation used to be provided for VIP status folks but they stopped doing it. It's not like everyone you see in the casino is VIP level so they won't be losing a lot of money. If this is Frank DelRio's plan to save NCL money, 2 thumbs down!

I wish NCL would mirror Caesar's Total Rewards program.

I am seeing this trend with all casinos. Less benefits with attaining tier. It's helping me diversify my valuable vacation time and money. i used to frequent Atlantic City, but lost the valued feeling as diamond status perks were cut. I happily platinum. Then tried out NCL (thanks to Caesars). Earned Golden my first year. I still have a cruise planned this year, but I have other land non-casino trips planned. It's not that I am swearing off gambling or cruising, I'm just seeing less value in budgeting the bankroll I use to. I hope NCL doesn't go the way of Atlanic City. Not that it's comparable, since cruising wasn't built on casino spending, but it's certainly a large part of their revenue.

I was just went to the Tropicana last weekend I thought the comps were really good....They were also giving out Carnival cruises not sure I will use that, but I have a year to decide If NCL starts lowering comps.

When do the new perks go into effect? So its no longer two free spa days for Golden?
