Will cruise leaving Sydney 18th March still go to the pacific islands?

Recommended Posts

At the moment, Legend is docked at Noumea, ready to head by home from it's 9 day cruise and Spirit is on way to Mare....be interesting to see if it stays that way....no matter, we've still got 9 days before we get to Noumea so with a bit of luck things will have settled down by then.

I guess there is a lot to be said for travel insurance!!!

Yes, but does travel insurance cover cruises that change their itinerary because od cyclones?

And would you get travel insurance if the cruise company gave you a future cruise credit, even if you were unable to find another cruise at that price?

No, the Spirit is NOT going to Mare, she is heading to Melbourn at the moment :)

Perhaps if there are a rash of cancellations (if offered) there maybe some good last minute offers.

Unlikely. The offer and cancellations would only be in the last 3 days, which is too late for new bookings to generally be taken.

I wouldn't worry too much, by the 15th it is predicted to have cleared the whole area so by the time you sail on the 18th & add your 2 days to get to Noumea it should be well & truly gone.

Only issue will be if you cruise calls at ports in Vanuatu as the latest forecast sees then getting hit & if damage is substantial (fingers crossed for the people of Vanuatu this isn't as bad as they predict),you may get a changed itinerary.

We leave on Solstice a few days after you & head to Noumea, Lifou & then Fiji & Isle Of Pines which all appear likely to be unaffected which I'm pleased about.

Whatever happens you can't control it & the cruise line will make the best of it for you I'm sure. :)

Yes Nathan is predicted to head toward Vanuatu but to be downgraded to an 'extra tropical storm' by the time it reaches Vanuatu according to this website.

It doesn't mention Noumea as being in the firing line.

Hopefully both cyclones have moved on by the end of next week & we can all cruise calm waters.

They're now saying may even be downgraded today and not even reach anywhere near Vanuatu

Good points.
