Hi,

Does anyone know of a cruise which combines Japan & Vietnam; I had a quick look at the Princess, RCI & Celebrity websites but couldn't see one.

Looking to travel probably April 2016.

Cheers,

Jim

Many thanks; that looks about perfect, apart from the long-haul flights of course.

Cheers,

Jim

I'd like to hear from someone who has done the Diamond Princess around Japan and know how the ship handles the change from mostly English speaking passengers to a large mix of Japanese speakers and English speakers as far as tours, dining, entertainment changes.

I did the Diamond Princess in July 2014 around Japan + Busan (South Korea).

Not much different from any cruise except they have to use a Japanese translator during most of the shows and events. There are more foreigners than Japanese on board the ship.

For the cruise land excursion, there are 2 types. The guides for foreigner can speak fluent English and Japanese. But if you pick the Japanese only land excursion, then no English available. Some how the cost is cheaper for the Japanese only land excursion.

I did 2 land excursions on my own, cover less places but did get to see what I wanted. I also did another one with the cruise land excursion, because the castle was too far away by public transport.

Azamara has a 16 night cruise from Osaka to Singapore on March 17, 2016. We are booked. The ports include Nagasaki, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong. We stay overnight in every port except Nagasaki and Quest is small enough to sail up the rivers to Shanghai and HCMC, which are the two things that appeal to us over the Diamond itinerary, which we had originally booked.

Quest is not dedicated to the Asian market, so as far as I know, she has not been retrofitted in any way for the locals.

Other options may be the Holland America 46-DAY SOLAR ECLIPSE, FAR EAST, CHINA & JAPAN COLLECTOR on the Volendam which is Singapore to Hong Kong or the 49-DAY FAR EAST DISCOVERY & NORTH PACIFIC CROSSING on the Volendam which is Singapore to Vancouver.

Now...this sounds wonderful !!!!

Just checked and got a bit of sticker shock...guess I'm used to RCI prices...am I right or wrong here. ??

I researched the cruises that included Japan. It is surprising how few cruise lines go to Japan.

We were booked on the September Celebrity Millenium Around Japan cruise, but it was chartered so we moved to the Japan and China cruise 25 October 2015 that has been sold out for months.

Princess had a couple of Japan cruises (didn't include Vietnam. Both of those cruises were in the middle of the Summer and people from Japan warned us how hot it gets in Japan in the Summer.

Didn't find one for HAL. Didn't check for Azmara (too pricey for me).
