Nola26 Posted March 30, 2015 #26 Share Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) The Fish and Chips (fries) are mine. Had that countless times as a midnight snack heading back to the room after a night at the casino. Ditto, although my experience was on the Sky so the Pub is the Longboard Bar. I'm looking forward to this and breakfast at O'Sheehan's on the Getaway this summer. BTW - "davidsobe" you are so wrong for posting those dessert photos! missdixie Posted March 30, 2015 #30 Share Posted March 30, 2015 I loved the chocolate malted shake. I hope it they will have malts on the Escape menu.
kdzkatz Posted March 30, 2015 #31 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Does anyone know if any of these desserts are available on the Jewel? We were the second cruise after her dry dock last year and things will not yet 100% finished yet. I'm hoping the menu wasn't complete and at least a couple of these will be available on the Jewel for our Alaska cruise in a little over a month. wanderlust81 Posted March 30, 2015 #32 Share Posted March 30, 2015 By any chance - can you order food from their breakfast menu in the evening? Late night breakfast sounds appealing...
peg013 Posted March 30, 2015 #33 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Is there mushrooms in the chicken pot pie? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes, there are but they are big enough and few enough to just pick out. My DH got the 3 that were in my chicken pot pie. I absolutely hate mushrooms but still loved the pot pie.
LrgPizza Posted March 30, 2015 #34 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Just so people know, the entire breakfast menu is only 4 total items. We like eating breakfast there sometimes and enjoy the hot food, but it's nothing to get excited about. All of the items on the breakfast menu are available in the buffet, except the buffet has triple the omelet filling choices. But it's fast and hot, and nice for a change of scenery. ldlewis45 Posted March 30, 2015 #37 Share Posted March 30, 2015 The decent-to-very-good: I really like the corned beef and cabbage soup (with some tabasco sauce added) and the meatloaf. The soup is great if you've caught one of the colds that are usually making the rounds of the ship, especially when the tabasco sauce is added. The spinach dip can range from mediocre to pretty good (better if tabasco sauce is added). It was super-bland on the breakaway, but pretty tasty on the Epic (with the added tabasco). The blech: The mozzarella sticks are barely edible, IMO. They've clearly been cooked in advance and then either put into a warming tray or reheated, so they manage to be both lukewarm and have that funky reheated fried breading texture. If you're expecting hot, stretchy, yummy cheesiness, you aren't going to get it. I've had them several times on both the Breakaway and the Epic in hopes that they improved, but they never have. Single Cruiser Posted March 30, 2015 #38 Share Posted March 30, 2015 I could survive a cruise just on the menu lol! Chicken pot pie is great. Breakfast in the morning is much calmer than the Buffet, chefs salad girl a light bite. Apple pie and Strawberry pound cake dessert and then the post nightclub early hours fries, burgers, wings, hot dog..

david_sobe Posted March 30, 2015 #40 Share Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) Is there mushrooms in the chicken pot pie? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes there are mushrooms in the pot pie Another change I noticed besides the dinners served at night is the food is served very hot. Everyone complained and I was one of them how the wings were served almost room temperature. This past cruise the wings were piping hot. As mentioned earlier and in my Getaway review, O'Sheehans is one of the few areas where there are no cut backs and things have gotten better than when O'Sheehans started. Rhea98 Posted March 30, 2015 #41 Share Posted March 30, 2015 On our last Epic cruise in Nov, we had breakfast there daily because the food was always hot. We asked about bagels and English muffins and got them. Once, the coffee arrived very weak but was replaced immediately with a strong, hot brew. Fish and chips was OK. Two years prior I'd ordered wings and a corned beef sandwich which were just OK. Taste is so subjective. We're on extended TA in 3 weeks and plan breakfast there most days. Hot, hot food, great service and good coffee (we brew a pot first thing in the morning as Epic has nice 4-cup brewers) will keep us coming back. AndyCapn Posted March 30, 2015 #46 Share Posted March 30, 2015 The chicken wings were really good. Hot and crispy each time I ordered them. I also liked the chicken pot pie and the fish and chips. The only thing I didn't care for was the spinach and artichoke dip (too runny, too much spinach). Service was really fast each time.
LrgPizza Posted March 30, 2015 #47 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Is the ice cream complimentary? No. There is a charge for the sundaes you have seen pictured here, as well as the floats, shakes, etc.

Is the ice cream only offered on certain ships? We were on the jewel a year ago and never noticed any ice cream offerings either. I hate how it isn't complimentary. My kids prefer just ice cream, not fancy desserts. So they used to have a brownie sundae and took that away?
mpk218 Posted March 30, 2015 #50 Share Posted March 30, 2015 The Ice cream bar in O'Sheehans has got to be the best kept secret on the ship.. There is no listing for it and is a separate menu from the O'sheehans menu, you need to ask for .. It cost a few bucks extra , But Oh so worth it..
