Traditional Dinning with a big group on Oasis

Recommended Posts

I have the traditional dinning for 6:00pm in the MDR on Oasis in July. We are a group of 15. I know I will not be able to get a table for all of us but wanted two tables next to each other. Does this need to be done in advance? We all booked with the same travel agent and told her we wanted to be seated together. I wasn't sure if we just show up on the first night and tell them our situation or if I need to call customer service before hand (as we do not want to be waiting for dinner). Any help/suggestions would be great! Thanks :)

If you are in a group booking (ask your TA), then the TA should contact the group coordinator and arrange your tables.

If you are not in a group booking, contact rcldining@rccl.com about two weeks before the cruise and make your request. Include full names, stateroom numbers, and booking numbers.

We were on Oasis May 2014 with a party of 14 and all were linked together for dinner. We had a nice LONG table where all of us could sit. It was hard talking to each other because we were so far apart (end to end) but it was still GREAT being together. The staff did an awesome job making sure we were together and out service was on point too.

This was done prior to boarding as each family booked we were linked to one central reservation number (mine). I checked frequently to make sure all members were listed and at same dining time 6PM. Once we boarded the ship DH went to MDR to visibly make sure everything was okay. It was nice to go to dinner and see it all set up perfectly.

We are going as a family group of 10, with linked reservations, main dining 6 pm. Do you think it is necessary that I email them to make sure it is JUST the 10 of us at the table? we are very social but I think it would be awkward to have just a couple of non-family memebers at the table with us, and with toddlers involved it will just be easier if it is only us. thanks!

I would send the email requesting a table exclusive to your party, can't hurt.

We had a group booking and our TA arranged ahead of time for round robin seating, 1 table for 8 people and 2 tables of 6 people, all in same area next to each other, same waiter for all tables. Each night we moved around among ourselves so we all got to sit with different friends. Waiter had no problem with it, best solution to large group. We do this whenever our group is larger than 10 people.

What RCL can do with my group of 22?

They can put you at a set of adjacent tables. We had a group of 52 last month on Liberty and had 6 tables all in one area. Many in our group changes seats every evening.

We just got off the Oasis and traveled with a group of 37. We had four tables right by each other. It took a few attempts though to get everything right, so double and triple check. We took care of it beforehand through our Group Specialist but some of our table assignments were wrong when we got our card at check-in. A few people visited the dining room when they got onboard and thought they had fixed everything, but when we got to dinner that night, things still weren't right. It was a little awkward for a few minutes but eventually the waitstaff brought out a bigger table and things did get fixed.

Awesome! Thanks so much :)

I contacted the dinning for royal caribbean and she said she sent it to Oasis…hope it all works out ;)

It will work out just fine. The dining department (rcldining@rccl.com) has wonderful people who will get it worked out at the ship level and usually will let you know the table number before you even sail.

They are fabulous.

We found it hard to get seated together with a large group MTD

Traditional is much better. I prefer two or three tables. Each night we would move two seats to the right that way we were always across from someone different. Was fun

Yes make sure you are all linked together. Go to the maitre d when you first board to confirm

The traditional dining is definitely the way to go with a big group, at least in my opinion. Definitely contact the dining department in advance. Also, double-check when you get your Sea Pass card that you're all on the same tables in the same area. We were traveling with a family group of 20, and there was apparently a last minute seating shuffle right before the cruise and we were somehow split up. If this happens, go right to the dining room and get it straightened out. The manager very kindly got it fixed and we ended up on two long tables right by the windows. Dining together ended up being the highlight for all of us!
